Prince Charles looked much older than his 73-years when I saw him on the TV news early this year. Mind you, I think he might have been recovering from Covid.

Be a sad day when the Queen goes. Kind of epoch-defining.

Whatever your thoughts on the Royal Family, The Queen has been an incredible ambassador for our country and an exceptional diplomat.

Im no fan of the Royal Family. In fact the whole idea of it is ridiculous

However, i like the Queen. Shes been a force for good in general.

Im not going to speculate, but shes 96, has blue hands (?heart failure), and they are calling her family in.

If these are her last hours/days, i hope she goes peacefully

What she says or thinks in private is a different matter, but she hasn't meddled in politics, and this is what a good constitutional monarch should be.

All the Queen’s four children are now with her at Balmoral Castle. Along with William.

Watching the coverage on the BBC. All the reporters are already wearing black, which I think is a bit much, but as you say, ready to press the button. Circling like vultures.

I am a royalist, I think the Queen has been magnificent in her lifetime, however she is a 96 year old lady and the end looks nigh. For me, she has aged and seem to have given up the battle after Prince Philip died.

I have switched off all news as these events just give numpty reporters and excuse to talk more drivel than normal, and Hugh Edwards makes words out of zilch.

God bless Her Majesty and her Family.

Agree regarding Price Philip, and any couple who've enjoyed such a lengthy marriage will be greatly impacted by their spouse dying.

I'm presently at work, however I can imagine the nonsense the reporters are coming out with.

Just report the goddamn news, that's all folks need to know.

The BBC have cancelled all BBC One programming for the News Special, it is all a bit mawkish for me.

I'm not a royalist, unlike my good mate ALP, however I have the utmost respect for Her Majesty for the unwavering service she has gone through in her life. It will be a sad day when she finally passes, and I do hope she passes peacefully.

I’m going to assume you meant ‘you’re’ and that the word ‘thread’ is missing from your sentence, as that’s the only way I can see it making any sense whatsoever, and then I’d ask you to read the posts preceding mine and realise it was in direct response to something written on this thread.

As for the Queen, I sincerely hope she is comfortable and able to to be happy during this time spent with her loved ones.

We've gone through so much instability over the last couple of years, and even though I'm far from being a massive royalist, the Queen been has been a rock of stability for millions of people. After all, she's our Head of State and has been for over 70 years. No matter what you think of the monarchy as an institution, she deserves our respect one hundred percent.

When the Queen does pass away this prime minister will be contacted by phone and give a code of "London Bridge Is Down" to inform her.

Not much of a code when it’s in the public domain.

Extremely sad situation and there does feel something crass about what could be the last hours of a monarchs life being dissected on national news. Hopefully she pulls through but it doesn’t sound good at all right now.

If the monarch dies, the doctor involved would notify the private secretary who passes the news to the PM.Before the public are addressed the heads of government of the commonwealth must be informed. Notwithstanding leaks or rumours we would find out within minutes so we aren't accidentally told by say the prime minister of Australia.

Seems a bit spish that the BBC have devoted the afternoon to this coverage. They've clearly been told more than we.

Anyone else think shes already died and they're waiting for everyone to get there to make the announcment?

Seen plenty of posts from supposed relatives of the royal guards and met officers that she has died.

Whether met coppers are told before any official announcement is questionable.
