Foodbank collection this Saturday v Reading
Foodbank collection this Saturday v Reading
Accy Clarets will be staffing the Foodbank bins this Saturday from 1.30pm to around 2.40pm. The bins will be located at the bottom of Ormerod Yard (behind the cricket club). outside the away turnstiles and on the corner of the club shop. Please try to bring along something to donate for a worthy cause in these difficult times. I know it’s not cool to spend an hour in the pub, with a large bag of penne pasta or such under your arm, but even so, if you’re heading for a few drinks, there are plenty of things that’d fit in a trouser or coat pocket…
Tube of toothpaste
Small tin of food
A small jar of seasoning
Shower gel
etc
Or even on your way to the ground just pop into the convenience store opposite the Turf pub and make a small purchase. If the bins have gone when you arrive at the ground there'll be a bin either in the Fanzone or next to the Ticket kiosk behind the Jimmy Mc stand. Or falling that just throw a few quid into the bins!
Let's try and fill the bins this week! UTC

Great idea but I believe that the one next to the Fanzone was being used as a rubbish bin recently.

And it would greatly help in achieving this if the Club would publicise the collection!Longsidelenny1882 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 11:57 amIf half the crowd took 1 item I am sure the organisers would be over the moon please try your best remember take a tin for a win keep up the good workutc

Brilliant Leisure and to everyone that has given up their free time to manage the bins at Saturday home games. Even if everyone just brought one item the bins would soon fill up and you don’t need to spend a lot. Let’s give some thought to those that are struggling to put food on the table for their children, I don’t mind admitting I get upset thinking about it. So if we can all give an extra push and bring something so many will benefit.

If every fan brought one tin, you’d need sixty wheelie bins. This therefore shows just how few contributions are actually made. It’s so frustrating as before the lockdown, the club seem to be a lot more on board and we were almost filling the bins that we had. We really need to work together on this, and we do need some help in achieving what I desperately hope is a common goal.

Re: Foodbank collection this Saturday v Reading
Big thanks to Accrington Clarets who have volunteered for this Saturday's game.
We have a meeting with Burnley FC in the Community tomorrow to see if we can't improve things as the need gets greater. If you can donate any items, please do. We want to ensure no one on this area is going without food at this difficult time.
A special thanks to the other supporters clubs who have volunteered this season - to Central Lancs Clarets, London Clarets, North Manchester Clarets and West Yorkshire Clarets and an even bigger special thanks to everyone who has made a donation.
If we are not permitted to collect at the Blackburn game, this will be our last collection until 17th December.

I'm going to do a shop beforehand and come to see you, recently won £15 on the club lottery so I'm going to ask the club to cancel the cheque and donate the amount in food.

Very important work goes on behind the scenes providing much appreciated help to some who, without support, would go without.

My Royal Reading contribution is ready….
Re: Foodbank collection this Saturday v Reading
The foodbank isn't just for food, it needs items for everyday life - soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant etc. These are items that you can easily fit in your pocket pre-match until you reach the bins.
Re: Foodbank collection this Saturday v Reading
Just a quick reminder for anyone wanting to help someone more needy than themselves. The bins will be there ready to accept any donations, large or small, and don’t worry about them being full or overflowing because the guys and gals manning them will be able to cope (they could also get wet today, but what the heck!)
Times are hard at the minute but believe me there will be folk who will be extremely grateful for your donation .

Also, if you prefer to donate a little cash into the bins instead of food, that's fine.

A big thanks to everyone who donated today. Also, thanks to our volunteers - Gracey, Cad, Mossy, Dave, Chris, Jim, Joanne and Alfie.

I dont think any of us did it to be named, but it is always nice to be appreciated. I was lucky to meet a man who had won money on clarets lottery and he then went out and spent the money on food and toiletries, he said he did not need the winnings but others are in need. Thank you to that man

You are so right pureclaret, none of the volunteers do it to be named at all, but it is only right that you are all thanked aslong with every single person who made a donation. I can assure you that Burnley FC Supporters Groups really appreciate your efforts as do those at Burnley FC in the Community.pureclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 30, 2022 10:39 pmI dont think any of us did it to be named, but it is always nice to be appreciated. Unfortunately, we won't have a collection now until 17th December. We just can't ask for volunteers for evening games although the community will have a bin at the fanzone ahead of the Rotherham game. The next daytime game is Blackburn but we will not be permitted to collect before that game unfortunately.
