Accy Clarets - No-shows today

Post by Leisure » Sun Dec 11, 2022 11:43 pm

We had a number of people for the QPR game who booked on and then didn't turn up. This resulted in the coaches setting off late whilst waiting for them, us travelling with empty seats and a loss of income. We appreciate that people's circumstances can change after they book on for a game but if people can take the time to book on, it's not unreasonable to expect them to inform us if they then don't require the seats. The people who didn't turn up will now have any seats which they've booked for forthcoming games cancelled and we won't be accepting anymore bookings from them. If you book on and then can't make it, please let us know.

Fair play Leisure. For as long as I can remember you have been doing your bit to make Accy Clarets the best BFC supporters club. Only takes 2 mins to apologise if you can't make it.

It must be a thankless job at times.

I find it unbelievable that people book themselves on your coaches and then don't turn up on the day.

What is it with these people that they don't have the courtesy to let you know that they will no longer be able to go to the game. Disgraceful.

Keep up the good work that you do by the way!

A great shame. Such organisation takes a lot of time and effort. We're these regulars? Seems odd that they do not know the procedure and expectancy.

Also....maybe let them off, this once, if they pay what they owe.

As a “non-regular” user of the coaches, I wouldn’t have any objections to paying up front if I was to book - even if it’s just a deposit
It’s easy enough to make a payment online/via apps these days

Scumbags.

These people probably are ones who book restaurants and don’t show up, either not realising it has consequences or, more likely, not giving a damn of the consequences.

I know that Leisure can speak for himself ( and is doing so with remarkable courtesy and restraint), but I think the deposit idea is a bad one. It creates more work for the organiser - keeping tabs on who has paid what, who still owes what, etc.
It shouldn’t be beyond anyone’s competence to stick to an agreement, or to notify Leisure in good time if circumstances unavoidably change.
Pay on the coach has to be the easiest way for the organiser.
IMHO, of course.

I completely agree that it they should have notified if no longer needed it

I was assuming (rightly or wrongly) that the no shows weren’t regular users of the coaches and it was these that should prepay

Those regulars that Leisure will know are reliable would still pay in the coach

To get a seat on Boundary Clarets you have to transfer the money over to secure your seat.
They only run one coach though.

Didn’t know that. It clearly works.
What do I know anyway…
Still - if you make an agreement - stick to it!

Accy Clarets do a brilliant job, I go to many away games with them. If I had to blob I would have the decency and respect to let them know. Also, I would still pay for my seat. Well done Leisure and the team, we would be lost without you. Thanks UTC

If they are Clarets, then they would surely be honourable and pay their debt.

When there's no financial loss then some people will never see an issue in not bothering to show up.

I would insist that payment is made in full before any bookings are accepted. Only refundable if they cancel with good notice and you are able to re-sell their seat

Name and Shame them , they are also potentially stopping other Clarets getting to games , always found Accy Clarets very amenable even to late changes ..they do a fantastic job

Thanks for the comments etc. We would love to be able to take payment upfront but the scale of that is just too demanding for us. Recently we have been dealing with taking bookings for 5 away games and the total number of bookings is over 300 (covering over 1000 people) and unfortunately we are just not resourced to cope with that volume of bookings/payments coming in. So it has to be pay on the coach on the day and we will have to deal with no-shows by implementing bans.

Just wondering if any of the no-shows have been in touch & apologised ?
