The West of Ireland has some of the best in the world at this game , got a local lad out to fix mine so impressed with what he did and a joy to talk to .

Its a messageboard, none of this is real!claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 8:14 amJesus lancaster most of your posts are sound but a hint of brexit has you coming across as someone who is allowing it to control your life, I am fairly sure that you like the vast majority of the country will have noticed no difference in their day to day life since the day of the result.
Do comments like hug that blue passport achieve anything ? If you are continually going to blame anything and everything on brexit you will end up very bitter, life is way too short for that
My life is great, pre, during and post Brexit and will continue to be so (baring illness of course!)
Its just an easy dig at people who have a dig at me, so if I (and they can deal with it) then I've not got any issues with it
The reason (I tend to find) that people get so defensive about is that its not going remotely well, and that is something (sadly) we all have to deal with

Re: Our country is on its knee's
Well no, that would be silly
Unless of course we were using freedom of movement to hire all our dry stone wall experts
Its a bit different for the chemical issues already discussed on the thread, as sadly there are problems because of you know what
(though we still don't know if that affects chemicals in the manufacture of interior sofa foam)
Re: Our country is on its knee's
Brexit is a massive f#ck up and has destroyed our economy
Covid contributed to the economical issues, but it is not the cause (see above)
Lockdown was necessary, and the initial delay cost actual lives of real people (now the vaccine has been rolled out it is no longer needed)
politicians screwed us over with fraudulent PPE contracts
Masks do help prevent the spread of viruses (as does good personal hygiene)
the government are corrupt (and the replacement when it comes will still have corruption, its called politics)
is that enough to get the thread locked...?
Sorry about the sofa delay - refer to the first point above

Re: Our country is on its knee's
Between Brexit, Covid and all the current strikes we really are on our knees. But none of it quite compares to not getting your sofa because of a foam shortage. Why you may ask? Because not getting your sofa is far more personal than the others

Steve the answer to your sofa problem ... is right under your nose ... It also brings the ancient art of drystone walling right into your living room ... you might need to get some cushions though

Re: Our country is on its knee's
I see the usual suspects have been triggered for the usual reason, as usual ! Lol !
Back to dry stone walling. I watched that programme where Alistair Campbell walked around the area up and around Settle. He stopped and chatted with a dry stone waller. He said some of those walls were built hundreds and hundreds of years ago. If memory served , some around 700 years ago something crazy like that. Says a lot about the men that build them. Respect to those boys.

Plenty of Drystone Wallers round here we have 3 in our villageLancasterclaret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 10:38 amSo you need a dry stone wall expert (that we haven't got because of Brexit (according to one poster) to build it in your front room?
Suddenly DFS business plan doesn't look like such a bad idea?

Re: Our country is on its knee's
I was disappointed by the thread title (should be “are country is on it’s knee’s”, surely), but delighted to click through. A marvellous smorgasbord of foam, sofas, jokes about fat arses, Brexit, covid conspiracies (featuring a special appearance from the Great Barrington Declaration), government corruption and drystone walling. It really does have the lot (apart from any mention of football).
This type of thread makes me quite nostalgic for the old days on here.

I know this place ...Up the Clarets is a reincarnation of Claretsmad, but it doesn't come anywhere close to the fun, fallouts and posters that Claretsmad had,did I dream we used to have a midnight club on Claretsmad or did it really happen?Greenmile wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 8:45 pmI was disappointed by the thread title (should be “are country is on it’s knee’s”, surely), but delighted to click through. No it wasn’t a dream, I spent many a night sinking a bottle of red in drunken conversation. Much prefer it on here though. By the time of the move it was no longer being done in good humour and had turned into a permanent slanging match, I remember taking months at a time away because I could not do with it.

It was incredible fun at the time. But it was of its time and I think you’d be shocked at how un-PC (in modern terms) we all were back then. I remember Custard’ s obsession with Casper’s Cottage and a hilariously surreal adventure springing form it over several hours…

Some poor people are homeless and are freezing at night, yet some decide to go to Marbella, to their Villa for the sun !
