Not too much of that in Qatar and definetly not much fair play. Excellent article.in The Times last week about Beckham's desire to become.e a.billionaire. His mate, Neville, is cut from the same cloth. Money driven the pair of them.

He is fast turning me off from football. The last 10 years have been a joke. All the rule changes every season, VAR, expansion of the Euros to 32 teams. The Super League proposal, Nations league, UEFA Conference league. They are expanding the World Cup to 48 teams further diluting the competition. They are creating a 32 team World Cup style club World Cup. And I’ve even seen murmours from the likes of that bellend at Real Madrid and Pique at Barcelona that football would be better having shorter matches.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 20, 2022 10:35 amHe's now pushing for a world cup every 3 years and now we've had a winter world cup he's going to have another I suspect because the Saudis want to host one in the next 10years....
It’s all ********. Trying to fix a game that wasn’t broken all for more and more money. I can see a breakaway organisation within the next 10 years.

Some will like it which I understand your reasoning behind it. The authorities just don’t seem to grasp that less is more from a sporting aspect.

They’ll only ever grasp that if the sponsors and tv companies become less interested. As it is, the more they get in their grubby hands, the more they’ll rinse it.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Tue Dec 20, 2022 11:58 amSome will like it which I understand your reasoning behind it. Re: Infantino
Havelange was bad
Blatter was worse
Infantino is worse still
The amount of money washing around football, and the complete lack of interest in any accountability from FIFA and the way FIFA is structured doesn't suggest that it is going to get any better
The problem is that football is ace, and World Cups are ace, and how do you attack FIFA when you really have to do what they say?

Form a breakaway organisation. The fans would be on side, and as we saw in the pandemic, football without fans is nothing.

Its structured so that it practically can't happen, and the only countries even remotely interested in reform are in Europe and North America, and we saw how they were essentially powerless in the WC when FIFA told them what they could and couldn't do

I'm still amazed sponsors want to be associated with toxic FIFA, change will only come when that isn't the case, oh and the sponsors will keep coming whilst the viewing figures are so high, so it's our fault really.

Gary Lineker pocketed a whopping £1.6million working for Qatar's state broadcaster as he fronted Champions League coverage over four years. The same Gary Lineker who gave a human rights speach instead of letting viewers watch the WC opening ceremony.

FIFA do seem to getting progressively worse somehow, and the frightening aspect is Infantino wants to stay as their figurehead for another decade or so, imagine the damage he can inflict in that time on the beautiful game.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 11:15 amHavelange was bad

What the solution is alas I don't know, but nobody at FIFA or indeed UEFA seem to be accountable for their actions which has to be a major concern.

No one does.
If the nations grew a pair and said “we’re done with your filth” and one dropped out after qualifying, followed by more, the whole thing would collapse. Paying fines to an organisation that no one recognised would be pointless and unenforceable.
Bin FIFA.

Strikes me that Havelange, Blatter, and Infantino, have always gone out of their way to prove to us- the English, that is- that we may have invented football, but they most definitely own it.
