Yeah I heard him
Puts rovers above his son's happiness wasn't it?
If his son was offered the chance to play for Burnley he'd disown him
Left Goldstein(?) On Talksport speechless

Jesus, imagine being his son and listening to that. If I was him I'd disown his dad!

It might be all for show. Even so, to come out with it on national radio is quite special, and I don't mean in a good way.

I know of another Rovers fan of several decades who has made the opposite choice and is getting a season ticket at the Turf because his son loves Burnley and he wants him to be happy. He even admits that it’s a cracking experience, great football and brilliant atmosphere. That’s a proper dad for you.

I thought it was amusing. I mean here's a bloke who earns a living from talking about 22 men booting a ball into a net in front of 1000s of baying morons (I include myself) and then acts all surprised when a fan rings in with a bit of knock around fun about his son.
I mean I even catch myself on the odd occasion shouting who are you are the opposition when in actual fact I know exactly who they are....!
And that's me better bred than your average Burnley moron who even knows people who live in the Ribble Valley. I rest my case...!

I can count on the fingers of one hand, 6 reasons why I'm pleased we are a different breed. I think if Charles Darwin was to do it all again, starting in east Lancashire, he'd categories us as different species.
In all seriousness this guy wasn't painting our local neighbours in a favourable light.

Of course I didn’t hear it.
I find it incredibly hard to believe that ANYONE heard it.
Is this dross still running? This really is the worst of the worst, listened to by the thickest of the thick.
Only come on the thread to express my utter surprise (and dismay) that it’s still going.

I'm sure if his offspring won the Grand National in claret and blue colours he'd be proud as punch. He'd probably congratulate the jockey as well!

Being a 6 fingered Burnley fan does have its benefits. It means I can count the number of points we'll take off Blackburn this season , on one hand. !

Bosscat,
I reckon she might have been a Dingle? Henry was nobbing her sister first. So there is a good chance if that was common back then, that's how she came to have the extra digit.

Isn't that just an urban myth about her having 6 fingers, I know it's something which does get mentioned on documentaries regarding the Tudors, however I'm not sure if it's just an old wives tale which has passed down the centuries or not.

You can probably file that under nonsense. In the 16th Century anyone with an extra digit would have basically been presumed a witch and wouldn’t have got a hundred miles of marrying a king.

It was meant to be a joke but ... good to see some educated chat on here instead of the usual bickerfest

I read that the latest thinking is that the portrait artist who portrayed her with 6 fingers just wasn't very good at his job

I think he should’ve said ‘they’re a different breed over them hills’ a few more times.
