Media City
Straight out of the car park and across the river, heading left to OT. Ten minute walk.
Easy to go back on motorway after the game.

Yes the Lowry Car Park at Salford Quays. The only drawback I find is queuing up at the Ticket machines afterward, you can have quite a wait unless you book in advance.
Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
The car park where Franky,& Benny’s is is only a 10 min walk to the ground ,probably charge you a fiver.

The Trafford Park line is now open, with the new stops at the Imperial War Museum and Wharfside (behind Premier inn)being just a short walk to the ground.
Park at Barton Dock road or Parkway only a 3/4 min Tram journey plenty of places to park nearby and straight away, far quieter than the Old Trafford stop

Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
Similar thing could be to park outside the Ifly on the Trafford Centre in their free car park and get the 10 minute tram. Straight on to the ring road.ClaretTricks wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 9:10 amThe Trafford Park line is now open, with the new stops at the Imperial War Museum and Wharfside (behind Premier inn)being just a short walk to the ground.

You would have to check the trams work out.

Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
BBC Sports Personality of the Year is being held at Media City on Wednesday, that might make it a bit busier.
From Media City it's 20 minutes walk to the ground.
The Lowry Outlet car park is a bit nearer to the stadium, follow signs to Salford Quays.
Just a couple of tips if parking there......after parking up you can take your ticket to the machine and pay in advance of leaving avoiding the queue for the ticket machines after the games.
Secondly if approaching the car park from the Lowry Theatre side go past the 1st car park entrance facing the water and drive to the end of the building, go right and enter via the car park entrance there.
This entrance takes you into the ground floor of the car park and parking there means you won't get caught up in any queues driving down from the higher floors when leaving after the game.
There is a food court in the Lowry Outlet with several options of different foods with plenty of seating room.

What's it like for having a drink around Salford Quays? Considering having a drink around there to avoid the hassle of the tram.

Don't use the Lowry- much less hassle parking a bit further away in the Quays.

Lime bar gets busy but easy enough to get served, you can pay in advance on lowery save queuing up at ticket machines, i did exactly this and there wasnt a car in sight, we had just won 2 - 0 though and the ground was empty after 80mins

Loads of bars in Altrincham, 15 minutes on the tram to Old Trafford. Can fire some recommendations for boozers and food if needed.

How about the Trafford Centre and tram to Cornbrook?
Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
If you are taking that route don't go as far as Cornbrook on the tram, get off at Wharfside, 5 minutes walk from there to the stadium.

Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
Havent been to the Trafford Centre in an age, is there any specific car park I should go for? I'm assuming all the outdoor car parks are all free with no barriers on leaving?

Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
Not sure I'd fancy parking near the Trafford Centre a few days before Xmas.. it could be hammered with shoppers.

Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
For those that do fancy it, will any car park do? Don't want to come back at 10.30 to see my car locked in until the next day

Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
Pretty sure the Trafford centre is open til around midnight, if not later with the cinema etc, so should be fine, I was considering it myself! Only car park I’d avoid is the one at Barton square/event city or whatever it’s called these days.criminalclaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 20, 2022 10:22 amFor those that do fancy it, will any car park do? Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
A colleague went yesterday and it took him 45 minutes to park. Think that was around 5pm. Its not just shoppers , he took his little one to see Paddington, he also said it was almost impossible to get a table for a meal.
Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
Id aim to get to trafford area after 6.30
Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
TfGM recommends going to the Trafford Centre by public transport to avoid parking there. Never been a fan of parking in Trafford Park either, a right drag back to the M60.

Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
I live in Media City, there’s a multi storey car park next to the BBC studios but it’s quite expensive. Roughly comes to £2/3 an hour, £18 for £12 hours if you’re staying in a hotel
Best bet would definitely be parking in the Trafford Centre and getting the tram to Wharfside which is next to OT, or failing that, somewhere Eccles way. Tram from Eccles to Media City takes about 10m and then 15mins walking distance from there

Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
I have just booked online to park at the Salford Quays Premier Inn for £5, 6pm til 11.30 pm (don't expect to be that long but same price all evening. Easy in and out to the M602 and M62/M60 as it is right at the start of Media City. Perfect for those of us travelling almost as far as the Man U fans

There used to be a car park next to this that was free, no longer alas.
Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
Did you get parked OK? I was also booked in there and I arrived at 17:45 and got the last space on the Premier Inn side (not sure if the other sections were also Premier Inn though) - there was also a queue of cars after me trying to park.bfcmik wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 2:31 amI have just booked online to park at the Salford Quays Premier Inn for £5, 6pm til 11.30 pm (don't expect to be that long but same price all evening. Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
75 minutes to get out of the multi-storey across the river from Media City after the game. Being on the 6th floor didn't help..it seemed we had to wait for the entire car park below us to empty before we could move !

Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
We parked at the Lowry, because people had work we didn’t get there until 7pm. That got us parked on the 6th floor. I would say it was 45 minutes before we got out of the car park after the game. As above, it’s obvious your going to have to wait for the whole lower levels to leave before you can. We had a friend on level two who was out in 10 minutes. They got there at 5:30.
Just for future visits, if you can get there before 6 your likely to get out in good time.

Re: Parking at OLD TRAFFORD
I ended up parking at the Trafford centre.
No problems whatsoever. There was 2 stops - Trafford centre itself which was near Selfridges and then Barton Dock which was about 100m away.
Parked up - was on the tram within 10 mins (having not realised there was 2 tram stops and had walked to the Selfridges one which was furthest away).
Left 2 mins into additional time - managed to get on the first tram to come having waited there for about 5 mins
Got back and was on the M60 within 20 mins of stepping off the tram.
Had to drop someone off but I would have been home for just before 11pm if I hadn't.
