Brum not lying down but, I suppose, they had to alter things after the early goal.

We certainly needed another. Great time to score.
Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
Agree 100%. A lovely time to bag the second.

Just what we needed right on HT, what a 1st half Roberts has had.

Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
Birmingham restricted is to only 3 shots on target, which is impressive.
Just a shame for them that we scored from 2 of them

Perhaps take Cullen off for Tella.

Patient, clinical when needed. Superb performance so far. Miles better than the ref’s performance.
Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
Birmingham's only shot of the half is from a 35 yard free kick.
Excellent half.
Excellent half.
Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
Similar move to the one against Huddersfield where Roberts nearly scored

Ref is shameful. Lino should be talking about Chong and he should walk.

Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
Does he play up front
Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
Depending on how the 2nd half goes the only way Cullen leaves the field is for an injury, red card or if the game is done after 80 mins. I understand why you might take Cullen off because he’s on a yellow…..but no

Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
Just dropping in to say that Connor Roberts has been absolutely outstanding so far tonight. Defensively spot on, should have two assists but for Brownhill having it nicked off his foot by Benny, and a superbly taken one-two goal.
Had a feeling as I said on here that we might see a different version of Roberts after the World Cup. Chuffed for him.

No subs needed at the moment. Keep things exactly the same.
Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
Not the most exciting games, but we have controlled it well. Anthor goal, and game management will do for me. We have a lot of games coming up, so going flat out when it's not required is not a great idea

Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
We're nearly always better in the second half too
Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
Ref shite so far. Birmingham's heavy pressing and pumping the ball forward has disrupted our play but when we've used it we've looked good. Roberts is having possibly his best game for us.

Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
Does a team fancy turning up at Turf Moor and stringing two (2) passes together at some point? Another stroll for Burnley.
Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
Birmingham remind me of us under SD last couple of seasons, good at harassing and winning the ball in midfield and then a long punt down the middle.
Two great goals and we are so much better when we are direct rather than all the back passes and playing it out again to keep possession.

Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
I'm enjoying their pressing because it's a nice challenge for us. So far, we've dealt with it well. But if they continue to press and with having to chase the game, they'll be tired towards the end. We can then throw that likes of Tella on.

Roberts playing his best game for us. His pass for the first goal was excellent and well finished with his left foot for the goal.

Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
I’ll be controversial here but I’d be interested in Hannibal if he was available in the summer on a permanent deal from United (if we went up). He has a lot of quality, albeit he’s impetuous and immature. I think there’s a potentially excellent long term Cork-alike…SussexDon1inIreland wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 9:03 pmI like the way Roberts is dealing with the cheating Hannibal

I don't enjoy the messing about at the back mesen but it serves two purposes. Makes them chase the ball, the reason we are so good late on as they tire, and our guys can’t play on the front foot for 90mins, can any side?

Deeny - Red?
Re: Burnley v Birmingham match thread
Should have been a red for Deeny. Shocking from the ref.
