We're up
We're up
We need to lose five and 3rd place needs to win five straight to knock us out of the automatic places. We aren't losing five between now and the end of the season. Rovers (or whoever finishes 3rd) aren't winning every one of those games we hypothetically lose. We have squad depth and a full transfer window.
We are already up. Promotion in the bag by Dec 31st. Just be professional for a few months and that's it. It's done. Absolutely effing unreal.

Re: We're up
Last I heard no team has won promotion with 53 points since 3 points for a win was introduced.
PS. You have obviously forgotten our 2nd half of the season collapse in the 'Gazza' season.

We should certainly go up from here, however let's just maintain our calm and keep chalking up the victories.
The real interest is who between Burnley/Sheff Utd will lift the title come May.

Definitely not up but results went our way this evening. Watford’s squad is a mess and Norwich don’t seem to fancy it. They are the two main challengers for autos imo. Rovers no chance not even thinking about them.

Easy with that kind of talk , take each game as it comes and let the points talk in May what we will have .

We have some hard games coming up. See where we are after those. Although, I am usually a glass half empty person and even I can't see this team collapsing.

Re: We're up
As entertaining as the first half of that season was, it was built on sand to some extent. We conceded a fair few goals but clicked up front, inspired largely by Super Glen.
I think we are much more controlled this season, less reliant on one player and much, much more consistent.

China does not allow betting companies on the mainland
What you are talking about is betting companies which target the Chinese population - and as numerous detailed investigations by respected journalists have shown that is a rather opaque situation as to who control these organisations.
the difference in income to a club like ours could be almost negligible - see last years shirt sponsor (who would likely be our go to next year or the deal to beat) yet the Premier League is still fighting a legal battle with PPTV (part owned by the Chinese government for reneging on a deal which cost the Premier League over £350m in lost revenues
there mare many reasons why that deal was cancelled, and betting advertising to the Chinese population is likely some way down the list but it will have contributed to the issue

On our way. But not done it yet.
Can still remember my Dad waffling on, years later, about giving Ipswich the league title everyone apparently thought we'd won all those years ago.
Good stuff to watch though.

We ain’t up till we’re up. Don’t risk a jinx.
Re: We're up
We are certainly riding infront of the curve.
Once we go north of the 75 point mark then it’s as good as done. Usually a mid 80s points haul is more than enough for automatic regardless. I think the points required will be a lot less this season due to how close it is.

Maybe but there is no way any of that dross below us is going to catch us apart from Sheffield Utd maybe but I don’t think they’re as good as us despite putting a hatful past us (bad day at the office). Swansea won 4-0 tonight but I can’t see anything other than a win for Burnley against them.

Re: We're up
We are much further clear of 3rd than Fulham managed last season, it is actually others underperforming, a side on 53 pts is not unheard of. Every side other than us or Blades is projecting under 72 points, normally that wouldn’t get in the playoffs.
So yes, we’ll be up. Only 2 sides will beat 80 and we’ll need only mid table form from here.
Good to win the league though - I’m sure we will.

Re: We're up
There was a lot of scepticism in the summer but I honestly always saw us having a successful season and I reckon every one of my posts here since Kompany's arrival back that up. I felt as if it was just a case of us all getting our tickets, strapping in and enjoying the ride!
With every transfer the project just seemed to progress and progress and become clearer and clearer. And then the Huddersfield game (wow) and I wrote on here most weekends for the first few weeks that I was yet to see a side better than us. I still stand by that. We're an immense Championship side.
It would take a crumble of massive proportions for us not be top two - and Kompany, although a very intelligent man, doesn't know the meaning of the word. Up the Clarets.

Unless one of the teams below Blackburn (can’t include
Blackburn) go on a phenomenal run and we lose 6 or more
of our remaining games then we should make it back up the top league.
I just hope we do it in style and actually win it.
If so it will be an absolute fantastic achievement.

It would take something absolutely momentous to not go up automatically. I’m their most cynical of supporters but there’s no reason to doubt it.
Even if VK left tomorrow, and Michael Jackson was put back in charge until the end of the season, I still can’t see the chasing pack catching us.

I don’t know if anyone heard Glenn Little on Radio Lancs commentary tonight. He was saying as much as the OP.
He sees big similarities with his Championship winning side, even going as far as saying their record 106 points could be under threat!

If PPG returns elsewhere were to stay as they are, we would only need another 19 points from 21 games to go up automatically.

Re: We're up
Remember when we were leading up to the home game against Swansea and we thought it was going to be the biggest test all season and one of the most difficult games we'd play, then we battered them 4-0?
Yeah, we're up.
Vinnie tried being fly tonight by resting Zaroury and Jay away at one of the most physical sides in the league (this type of team supposedly being our Achilles heel), bang in the middle of winter, with a team full of young, relatively inexperienced players, and we still managed to find a way to win, and we kept another clean sheet, and it was a rubbish game but we didn't have to work overly hard for the win, and there were no injuries and the squad rotation worked out fine in the end, and we have a serial winner as a manager and we're trying to buy the best striker in the Championship.
What part of any of this makes someone think, "now now, hold your horses, it's not over 'til it's over?" As a team we're at the point, much like City of the last few years, where against almost every team in the league we can go out, get the job done inside 60 minutes, then manage the rest of the game with an eye on the next one. We have such control over games (one goal conceded in how many minutes of football now? and that was due to a wild a kamikaze pass) that we could go the whole season without ever seeing this team in fifth gear. Maybe we get to something like the quarter finals of the FA Cup and we draw someone like Newcastle, then we are pushed to our limit without being out-played and out-classed like we were against UTD — maybe then we see what fifth gear looks like, but we're smoking teams and making it look easy, and when games are a bit closer or we play bad, we still find a way to win.
We're up.
