Short corners…

Am I missing something? I swear I’ve never seen anything come good from one!

They're better than our corners straight into the box.

Clearly gave up on "normal" ones after 8 or so due to no height

I don't understand why we didn't just go high but further out?

We were never going to win the first ball in the air but the daft thing is we were never going to win the second or third either.
Just play it short then on the floor into the box and see if anyone can get a toe or deflection on it.

Alan Hudson at Chelsea used to take a cracker. He drove it in at waist height. Very difficult to get away.

WBA cleared one off the line (headed top corner) which came directly from a pass to the edge of the 18 yard box in the second half.

The front post flick on wasn't really coming off either and we tried that multiple times.

I would like to see us try and work something else from the training ground.

Corners are not our strength at either end but lets not dwell. It's another area we can only improve in too.

We're crap at corners.
Have been for most of the last ten years.
Doesn't matter if they're short or long.
We're crap at corners.

We’d be better giving them a goal kick- but who cares we’re top of the league

I'm sure Beyer scored from a corner played into the box last week!

you should have seen us in the 50's and 60's
We were masters of this and scored so many goals
you do need have ball players like Jimmy Mac to make the system work.

Our corners tonight were crap. Most of them barely reaching the near post.

Its a poor do if your corners dont clear the first defender.
Which quite a lot tonight didn't.

However, we won a magnificent victory, so I'm focusing on that. ;)

Short memories you mean?
Teams were terrified of our corners for years in the premier league.
We lived for corners.

We did indeed score from a corner last week, but it's the ratio of corners to goals that concern me. For the amount of corners we often get every match we really ought to be scoring more, or at least looking more dangerous than we do currently. An area we def need to improve on. Last nights corners often failed to beat the first man.

If you think we are shite at corners, this is a except from WBA press.

." I understand that it was the 549th corner that Albion have had since the last time they scored from one! "

Hopefully, we won’t have to wait as long for the next!

So we are not the only ones!!!

With signing Ekdal, our corner routines will be approached differently now.

I think we should ask the referee if we can take a freekick outside the box instead.

I hope so. Like the OP, I’m not a fan of the short ones but also appreciate our lack of height probably plays a part. And I do also appreciate that it makes us less predictable.

I think we have a set piece coach now. There’s nothing more I’d love than to have some well worked corner routines that create opportunities but we just seem to pass it out twice and then get the cross blocked.

We’ve been brilliant this year but this is definitely something we can improve on.

It's more an incantation than a song, but if you've got one in mind...
