Konyaspor President Fatih Özgökçen said at the press conference he held after the Ankaragücü match, “All Konyaspor fans can be sure that we will not sell Amir Hadziahmetovic to any club for a figure that is not in Konyaspor's interest.”
Konyaspor President Fatih Özgökçen: There has been an offer for Amir Hadziahmetovic both from abroad and from the Super League. Let our fans be assured, we do not sell them outside the club's interests. We turned down all offers…
Konyaspor President Fatih Özgökçen: "The number we wanted was not offered for Amir Hadziahmetovic. We do not allow his transfer at the moment. If the number we want is given, it can be transferred."

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Reads to me like signing him in the summer won’t be much of an issue either - although I doubt that will be Nathan Jones decision to make at that point.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Great news, but his comments that basically say “I don’t think he could do it at PL level, look at Armstrong, he’s been prolific but can’t score at this level, so we’re looking for someone else who is better” are a bit surprising. That wouldn’t entice me back to Southampton if I were Tella. Or please me if I were Armstrong.
But let’s face it, he’s probably not going to be there in summer anyway.

Jones clearly doesn't fancy him...Id have Tella before Armstrong all day long.
I think there's a Prem player there.

Didn’t say they wanted someone else who is better - said different in size. Presumably they have similar strikers in terms of size and style to Tella.NewClaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 11:02 pmGreat news, but his comments that basically say “I don’t think he could do it at PL level, look at Armstrong, he’s been prolific but can’t score at this level, so we’re looking for someone else who is better” are a bit surprising. There’s nothing whatsoever in that article for Tella to be upset at - the manager is complimenting him and being diplomatic as possible in saying that bringing Tella back is probably not going to be in his view what gets them away from relegation. Jones style of football is quite direct and with the set pieces of Ward Prowse it’s not a big shock they are looking for someone big and physical.
All good for us as he’s perfect for VK and our style of football and also a fantastic character for the team and the fans.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Agree, he's got pace, mobility, energy with a great competitive attitude and loads of potential to develop
Sounds like Jones has spoke to him & Tella has said he'd like to stop where he is.
Love us to be a position to sign him in the summer , Jones doesn't sound keen on him.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I didn’t say he would or should be upset, just that by hearing my manager talk about the profile of player he’d prefer to bring in (bigger, more aggressive) and positioning that there’s a big decision point in the summer, it wasn’t a ringing endorsement that would entice me back to the club if I were him.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 11:11 pmDidn’t say they wanted someone else who is better - said different in size. Re: January transfer window rumours.
I'd love to sign him, but I see a lot more room for improvement in Nathan, than any of our other signings. He can be a bit gung-ho at times, and therefore erratic, but I believe he can overcome that given time and VK and CB influence. If he does he'll be a fantastic PL player.

I just admire his honesty. He wants a target man and is happy with Armstrong, all good for me, Jones has gone back up in my estimation, reading that.NewClaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 11:18 pmI didn’t say he would or should be upset, just that by hearing my manager talk about the profile of player he’d prefer to bring in (bigger, more aggressive) and positioning that there’s a big decision point in the summer, it wasn’t a ringing endorsement that would entice me back to the club if I were him.

Yeah it’s a perfectly fair position for him to take as a new manager looking to build his team & impose his style, just doesn’t read to me that he expects Tella to be part of it. Which is good for us of course.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 12:06 amI just admire his honesty. Great news,
Let’s offer Wout in the summer as a make weight for Nathan’s permanent services.
He’s a World Cup goalscorer for a major nation so cash our way too?
Can but dream

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Difficult to judge isn’t it. Armstrong at Tellas age knocked 28 in 40 games at championship level.
Until Tella gets a sustained go in the prem it’s going to be difficult to compare the two.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Agree with this. There is a player there. He’s worth signing if we go up if the fee is below £10m.
Loves it here and brings genuine intensity to our play with his running / pressing. Plus with his pace means a bit more refinement on other key attributes (notably robustness, movement and decision making) and he could become a useful PL squad player. Still young.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Armstrong played as a centre forward when he scored 28 didn’t he? Excellent numbers of course, but I think Tella is a different kettle of fish. He’s played a few minutes at centre forward (notably away at Sunderland where he was excellent and scored) but primarily he’s the ‘drift in’ winger. I think, given his raw pace, he’s more chance of success at Premier League level than Armstrong.
Like RV, I’d be paying up to around £10m to take him permanently.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I like Tella and he has more chance of making it in the prem going up with a team he has played a full season with successfully.
Players have to fit into teams like a glove to succeed. Tella would be awful at Southampton at the minute but he has a chance if he stays with us in this system.
4-5m is my valuation at the minute. Fees are smaller at the minute unless you can sell to the big clubs.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I can sort of see why there might be doubts over Tella in the Premier League. He's scored goals for us and given us a threat behind, but as a wide player he's obviously not created the chances Benson has for others. There's an argument that as a wide player he's lacked a little bit of guile at times.
But for all that I find the comments from Jones casting doubt on whether he can make it in the Premier League a little surprising. Firstly they're better kept in house and secondly, he's 23 and has plenty of time to mature and add that subtlety to his game. He's a good finisher, makes excellent runs off the ball and has pace to burn. That's quite a good starting package.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Imagine Tella and Foster both running at defences, not many have the pace to cope with that, especially with our passing.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Jones doesn't really know tella he's only been in the job for a brief period of time & tellas never been at St Marys whilst he's been about so it's guesswork the same as the rest of us, personally I think tella would do ok he's very raw but can only improve & get better & he'll only do that competing with players at the same standard or above. Tella would flourish in a kind of a side designed for fast counter attacking football similar to a palace but whether he could get back & help out defensively often enough is debatable & effectively do both sides of the game in the PL.claretspice wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 8:10 amI can sort of see why there might be doubts over Tella in the Premier League. Re: January transfer window rumours.
Tella's pace gives him a good chance a level higher. His acceleration is really remarkable, struggling to think of quicker for us honestly in my time watching.
His infectious enthusiasm since he has been here, consistency in terms of goals to minutes from wide positions and age profile all set him up to be a great signing I feel. The bench in the PL is 9 lets not forget, he will have a big role to play as part of the squad, just as he does now. Get it done!

The lads a good egg for sure but I fear the lads success for us will go against us because Southampton know he's championship prime & will want him to replicate what he's done here for them & catapult them out of the division, they'll be almost certain to lose JWP goals so they'll need him even more.jedi_master wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 8:33 amTella's pace gives him a good chance a level higher. Good point regarding next season if they go down. I guess it depends on how they are financially. But there's also player power and player morale to consider.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 9:11 amThe lads a good egg for sure but I fear the lads success for us will go against us because Southampton know he's championship prime & will want him to replicate what he's done here for them & catapult them out of the division, they'll be almost certain to lose JWP goals so they'll need him even more.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
To be honest, my opinion of Jones has gone up a fair bit with what he's done this week
He's recalled Bendarek from Villa because he's just not playing, and what is the point of loaning out a player if he's not going to play?
He's keeping Tella here because he is playing, and playing well, and he recognises that is best for him at the moment
Pretty good management

For a season maybe he'll play at a higher level it's possible the season after the swing could go in the other direction & he'll be back where he started, unless he agitates I can't see Southampton letting him go not to just us anywhere.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I'm surprised he hasn't recalled him. Tella isn't the finished product by any means but you'd think that raw pace, dynamism and finishing ability would be very useful in a relegation scrap. I do get the feeling Tella will have made it categorical that he wanted to stay here, so maybe that made the decision for Jones. I'm delighted he's staying - not only is he a seriously good asset on the pitch, he looks like a fantastic personality off it, too. Exactly the type of character you want around the place.

Managerial suicide if you ask me not to recall 1 of your form players to help your cause when you are in the mire, when they go down it won’t matter anyway because he won’t be about next season making any decisions.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 9:16 amTo be honest, my opinion of Jones has gone up a fair bit with what he's done this week

He’s not one of their form players is he ?
Why would he recall a player who has little form for the club in the PL ?
How is that going to save his job and relegation bringing back someone who has not been good enough for them ?

The other obvious attribute he's got is that he presses really, really well and is pretty diligent defensively. That's a really handy attribute in the bottom half of the Premier League.jedi_master wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 8:33 amTella's pace gives him a good chance a level higher. Certainly in our interest for Southampton to stay up now. Can see them wanting Tella back for the Championship but not if they stay up based on Jones comments.

He specifically belongs to them & he's in form so by that definition he's one of their form players regardless of whether he's playing at turf moor or Pluto, it might not save his job or relegation but the alternative in doing nothing probably won't, you at least give it a go.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 10:06 amHe’s not one of their form players is he ?

Ellis Simms was playing well for Sunderland creating chances and scoring 5 goals. In early January he was recalled by Everton but he hasn’t managed to replicate his Sunderland form for them and score goals to dig them out of the mire. Sunderland now hopeful of bringing Simms back for the Championship run in.

How about pinning your hopes on a striker untried at PL level to score the goals in a survival bid?Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 9:25 amManagerial suicide if you ask me not to recall 1 of your form players to help your cause when you are in the mire, when they go down it won’t matter anyway because he won’t be about next season making any decisions.

You give it a go, I periodically go on the Southampton forum & it's not just me who thinks like that it's been suggested by their own fans it's worth giving tella a try due to the success he's had here, but Jones knows best he'll be out on his ear shortly enough.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 10:36 amManagerial suicide?
