Beyer
Nixon reporting we will take up the option to make Beyer permanent in the summer.
Brilliant news if true.

Re: Beyer
Hope this is true.
He needs a long contract too.
Going places is this lad.

Re: Beyer
Best defender at the club. Rolls Royce at this level.

Yes I remember you sharing that and others were then accusing you of thinking you knew more than their ownerBig Vinny K wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 7:49 pmGreat news

I really hope you turn out to be correct. Sounds like it will happen.

Re: Beyer
If it does not happen I was and still am telling the truth.
If he does not sign it will be because the player or Burnley FC have made that decision.

If we get him for £5m we’ve pulled off the crime of the century.

Re: Beyer
Perspective: Leon Cort at about age 30 cost us £1.5m THIRTEEN YEARS AGO!!! In today's money that's like handing over £10m for a washed up donkey people only remember for being rubbish. Beyer has full Germany international mainstay potential.
Re: Beyer
He is phenomenal, but tbh I am equally if not more excited about Ekdal!Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 7:49 pmBest defender at the club. Rolls Royce at this level.

Re: Beyer
Ekdal was a great signing and Charly was superb today.
But Beyer is absolute class and one of its kind. If this news is true I will celebrate for a week or longer. Beyer would write history with us. Ekdal alongside him would profit from Beyer‘s leadership, too.

Re: Beyer
Over the moon about this should it be true
..........only downside is it's coming from Nixon who I don't think has a clue and generally just posts the bloody obvious . He does however have a great PR person on this board

Re: Beyer
This is great news. I have already got him in Cork's current role with THB and Ekdal at cb.

Re: Beyer
From what I recall Nixon has at times seemed to have info before anyone else in the media regarding our transfers. I think he was talking about our interest in Cornet a couple of months before he signed.
He also tries to make an extra few quid rehashing existing or obvious stories.
The Beyer story sounds like it falls somewhere in the middle of the two. Let's just hope it's true.

Actually it's £2,495,782 in today's money.

Re: Beyer
Some one posted something this week that borussia put on their socials (maybe Instagram) that they’d had a meeting with beyer after the game Tuesday and said ‘more to follow’

Re: Beyer
The inclusion of Blackburn in 2nd 11 points behind casts serious doubt on anything about that article. It’s almost as if someone hijacked Nixon’s handle

Re: Beyer
That would be a fantastic price but I am not hugely surprised as the most we spent on any of our summer signings was £4m on Twine.
We did some unbelievable business in the summer and this looks like another great coup

Re: Beyer
Would not shock me at all if there were similar clauses in Tella and Maatsen’s contracts. Their “spices” celebration is either a massive tease or a sign that they expect to sign permanently.
Any I imagine in summer that Southampton/Chelsea might’ve been open to decent sums for fringe players.

Re: Beyer
Haven't The Athletic been saying this all along since the day Beyer signed? Why does it now hold any more weight because Nixon is saying it (months later)?
As an aside, didn't The Athletic also state we have something similar set up for Maatsen?

They said there was believed to be a buy option, never that we are activating it (which is kinda the new bit here plus the fee).Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 1:33 pmHaven't The Athletic been saying this all along since the day Beyer signed? Re. Maatsen, no, just that we are likely to pursue a permanent deal for him.
