You don't see many 4-4 draws and for us to come back from 3-0 at half time was some achievement. The only other time I've seen us come back from 3-0 down at half time was Chelsea away possibly in 73-74 when we got a 3-3 draw. I think that my Dad and I were the only Clarets in the ground that night jumping around when our equaliser went in. Getting out alive was our only issue

It indeed was 73/4. The back page of the Daily Express the next day had a big banner headline relating to our comeback - 'The Greatest Show On Earth'.
The 3-3 draw at Chelsea was 1974/75

Correct. My mistake. We lost 0-3 there in 73/4 on a midweek afternoon. I think I was one of very few Claret fans at The Bridge that day.

It was an afternoon during the three day week. That was the day we met Shankly on the train down from Preston.

The 3-3 draw was midweek at the start of the season.

Home game was v blackpool, and a draw.

Away game would have been before that. Possibly by some years, probably in Wales or Hereford, but can't remember what or where.

Burnley v Port Vale

28 March 1995

Burnley won 4-3, sat on the Bob Lord and saw my normally quiet, retiring dad shout 'Come on Burnley!!' so loud I thought he was going to have a heart attack! Happy days
That was a replay of a Boxing Day game that got abandoned in the second half

I think that's the wettest I've ever been at Turf Moor and I was under the roof on the Longside

1-0 up but 2-1 down when it got called off. My memory is hazy but seem to recall Wayne Dowell getting a bad injury which had something to do with the conditions and the ref finally calling a halt to proceedings when Gerry Harrison slid into a tackle and aquaplaned across the surface

The 4-3 win in the replay gave us a glimmer of hope of survival but it wasn't to be

The Boxing Day game should never have started. We’d had a really cold spell and the pitch was frozen apart from the top surface. Then it rained heavily and the water couldn’t get through so basically flooded the pitch. It caused Wayne Dowell’s injury too. Ted McMinn scored our goal I think.

5th September 1955. Burnley 3 Luton Town 1. Peter McKay, stand in centre forward hat trick. The Longside slag heap with concrete terracing towards the pitch with a sliver of concrete steps on the other side with the aromatic gents conveniences half way up. Bob Lord had an unwritten rule that under eights were barred as many youngsters were hoisted over the adult turnstiles with no payment being made. I was 7 and a 1/2 and was one of those assisted by my father, a claret for 75 years. When it gets in your blood..........

Congrats Mr Shankly on last seasons success
But I'm.afraid that this year you'll be winning much less
A new teams arrived and though you beat us last year
I'm.afraid that this time it's your turn for tears

Not exactly word for word but still recall a lot of it

Burnley 6 QPR 0 the 3rd round in the year we got to the FA Cup final 1962. I had 'followed' the clarets for a couple of years before then but never been to see them 'in the flesh.' My support during that time was restricted to reading about then in press reports. I read everything I could about them but as I there was no attenders in the family I was a lone voice! However my Dad learnt of my obsession and agreed I could go with a husband and wife in their car from Barnoldswick to the Turf. I have made up for those 'lost years' ever since although time and distance have restricted attendances. Two of my sisters married claret fans which helped the conversations! Favourite claret is a really tough choice but I am going to pick Willie Morgan.

HOME - Burnley 2 - 4 Man City August 2001 - Brief memories of Shaun Goater ripping us apart and a certain Tony Grant that we went on to sign.

AWAY - PNE 1 - 0 Burnley February 2005 - Graham Alexander doing what he did for so many years from the spot.

I have very brief memories of a pre season friendly game in mid to late nineties, my dad cant remember who we played either so I've had to go with the game I actually remember fully.

Burnley 2 Stockport 1
Wembley 1994, 3rd tier playoff final
David Eyres and Gary Parkinson
They had two sent off early.
Think John Francis went off injured for us?
Used to have the video of it as well so watched the game numerous times again afterwards and fell in love woth football aged 5.

8 December 1984 FA cup
Burnley 3
Halifax 1
Bee Hole End

8 years old. Don’t remember much other than Roger Hansbury waving at us. Looking back it’s a miracle anyone young got hooked on going on in that period. Relegated that year and not much really to get excited about for another 7 years! Must have been easily pleased. My youngest sons first game was Spurs in the Premier League. Bit of a contrast.

Correction Wembley 88 was quite exciting (even if the result wasn’t)

Good memories but the Arsenal game was a Saturday afternoon match in September. Arsenal scored in the last 10 minutes I recall.
It was definitely that game. Maybe I was confused because we went to Manchester after the game and had to hang around there for a few hours for some unknown reason before arriving home early the next morning.

I remember it well. That was Casp at his best, turning onto a ball to his feet and hammering a low shot from the edge of the box past none other than the famous Peter "The Cat" Bonetti.

That's one of those games that sticks in the memory.

My first game was a 0-1 home defeat to Arsenal, 1968. Jimmy Robertson for Arsenal.

I was sat in the Cricket field, complete with heated seat.
Not this game - well the 1969 one then - but I did once sit in the Cricket Field Stand when the heating was on. There were holes in the concrete under the seats and they blew out hot air. This came from boilers in the stand and it seemed to me a bit like sitting on a rocket as I could feel the boiler's vibrations. Can't remember whether it kept me warm or not. Of course it proved too costly and was ended at some stage.

A couple of questions on this:

Has the story of our heated stand been written somewhere?

Are the holes still visible although presumably blocked up?

Nov 1st 1958 was my first game. I was 6 and the opponents were Nottm. Forest. We lost 0-2, they wore white shirts and black shorts and I was on the Longside with my dad. Think we won away at OT the following week which I didn't attend but I went to the next home game and we lost again.

The holes were certainly still evident the last time I sat in there ...

Funny things memories... I remember Casper running onto a through ball at the CFS, bringing it down on his chest and hitting a gorgeous volley to the top right corner that Bonetti barely saw. My favourite Burnley goal ever I'd say.

But not disputing anything.. I'd probably nipped into the turf hotel for an underage pint pre-game 😉

This is my 50th season.
1st went on in 72/73 and we were promoted from division two as champions.
Now it looks like 50 years on we are going to be promoted as champions again. Coincidentally today’s opponents, Huddersfield, were relegated then and it looks like it’s gonna happen again

27 August, 1957
Burnley 2 - Preston 0
Alan Shackleton (another Padiham Preditor) scored both goals

Interestingly only five players to play regularly in the Division 1 winning team two seasons later were on show that night :-
Angus, Adamson, Seith, McIlroy and Pilkington. One of Burnley's great international keepers, Colin McDonald, was also playing

Mine is the same as Rammyclaret’s 12 Sept 1970

Lost to Arsenal 2-1.

I went a few times that season and we lost every time.

I was considered bad luck and that only changed when we had our promotion season a couple of years later.
