Hull-WBA
Re: Hull-WBA
Hoping for a WBA win. I don't like Hull and it'll take them closer to Rovers.

Crap following from Hull. We’ll sound like the home team week after next, I’m sure!

to think we went in for Wallace and he went to WBA for his 40K a week - we ended up with Zaroury and Benson instead !!Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 8:14 pmTwo poor teams very little quality in either team and

Are we the only side in the division without a long throw?
Re: Hull-WBA
We have one, we just don't use it this seasonagreenwood wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 9:04 pmAre we the only side in the division without a long throw?

Re: Hull-WBA
Going to be a long summer for West Brom if they don’t go up. Their finances are a mess.
Re: Hull-WBA
Didn't realise WBA are going to struggle to get in the play-offs having just seen the table.
Re: Hull-WBA
I had WBA down for the play offs when Corberan got the job. Some decent results I think but doesn't look like they'll have enough.
Re: Hull-WBA
Just wondering how you’ve been able to judge this… How was it any better when we went 23 unbeaten, for example? Last season I recall all Champ fans saying how average Bournemouth were all season under Parker yet they finished 2nd?

Know what you mean.
Wont remotely take any shine off our winning the title, if we do go on and win it. For me, anyway.

Re: Hull-WBA
The ease and margin by which we are going to win it far outweighs the negative of the quality of the league. Had we scraped it by a point or two it would be case of being the best of a bad lot but we are clearly a class apart.

Re: Hull-WBA
The league isn't crap, it's incredibly competitive which makes it hard for teams to stand out - we are just taking the **** because we are on a different level under VK imho (at this level)TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 9:42 pmThe ease and margin by which we are going to win it far outweighs the negative of the quality of the league. Re: Hull-WBA
I don't think the Championship is that bad. We have been watching PL football for quite a few seasons so get accustomed to a certain standard.
We are ( now) head and shoulders better than all the other teams, but that is purely down to VK. Any other manager & we would be battling.

Re: Hull-WBA
4 minutes stoppage time
7 second half substitutions and 1 second half goal as well as a few stoppages for players going down injured

Re: Hull-WBA
It’s a bit of a cheap get out to say it’s such a mediocre league this year - the sheer quality of our play has made it look that way. Ask any other team, and they’ll tell you this league is a real slog. There are some good, experienced managers with very good squads who are struggling to keep a playoff place this season.

West Brom have struggled for goals all season, and their only 2 strikers are out. They are shafted.

One of our toughest matches was against West Brom, and they were the better team and would have won if they had a forward.

Re: Hull-WBA
This is true but that day we were without Beyer, Benson and Zaroury in the starting line up. When we lost to Watford we again had no Beyer yet, no Zaroury, Costelloe started as well as Bastien. When we lost to Sheff Utd we had no Jay and no Brownhill with Bastien again starting.Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 10:09 pmOne of our toughest matches was against West Brom, and they were the better team and would have won if they had a forward.
So really all three of those defeats and / or bad performances we had a severely weakened side. It is probably hard to judge any of those three sides due to that.

Re: Hull-WBA
My post was a dig at all those on here who go on about how crap all the other teams are. (My fault I should’ve used this: ).
I actually agree with you it’s very difficult to objectively assess how good or bad the league is relative to other seasons.
I’d rather think it’s us that are the best of a good bunch rather than only winning the league because everyone else is a heap of crap.

Re: Hull-WBA
See my post above, but for me we’ll win the league because we’re a fantastic team in a very tough competition, not that the other teams are rubbish.

And ironically the team he left to join West Brom in the summer have a better chance of promotion.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 9:45 pmhe's a decent player, the rest around him aren't at his level imho - he chose the wrong club to join
Re: Hull-WBA
I think it's both. Weak quality but a lot of teams around the same level and so it's also competitive. It's competitively weak.
Re: Hull-WBA
The only thing that would take any gloss off us winning the league is if Sheff United or Rovers won the FA Cup, especially if either got promoted as well.
I'd be totally gutted if that happened.

Re: Hull-WBA
Without the rebuild in the summer, hypothetically holding on to the mainstay of who was on our books, we would also have been in the scramble possibly labelled as mediocre too.
I don't think it's a poor quality league. It's more that we are on another level.

Not me Spijed. I'm not bothered what happens in the FA Cup. One of the Manchester clubs will probably take it anyway.

Wouldn't be fussed about that at all, if anything I'd take my hat off to them because that would be some achievement.
