Pitch perimeter
Always looks like an accident waiting to happen when a player has to run on it. Tella today nearly had a fall. I'd like to see a surface that is safer for such incidents.

Cannot understand why we don’t cover it. Weird.
Also would like to see the pitch brought right up to the longside. We need to get the fans right on top of the pitch.

Re: Pitch perimeter
I agree, the drop off is too soon and too steep. Needs to be a more gradual drop or no drop at all. Would make for better corner kicks too. Should be like the practice pitches.
Re: Pitch perimeter
I put a post exactly about this a few months back, it’s ridiculous that nothings been done.

Re: Pitch perimeter
Always thought Dyche liked it cos the need for care stepping down broke the game up down that side. Might be tgmhat Kompany takes a similar view before our new way is tested in the Prem, but would be no surprise if he looked to at least get the slope graded I'm the summer - to allow us to play quickly, as much as to deal with the obvious injury risk.
Re: Pitch perimeter
What relevance has that got to do with it? It’s actually being concerned about players safety for both teams.welsbyswife wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 6:35 pmBest team we've seen in a generation and people worrying about the run off area. Some folk just can't enjoy life!!

Weird that people can’t comment on anything that isn’t singing from the rooftops without being criticised. We get it, we’re top of the league, we’re brilliant, but we can still talk about other things.

I have 2 sat behind me in JHU that usually slag the team off all match, but today they actually wanted Huddersfield to score to make it a better game. Just WOW

Re: Pitch perimeter
Just because the team are doing exceptionally well doesn’t mean we can voice concerns about something which is a clear safety hazard for players?
The OP makes a very fair point and it has absolutely no relevance to how the team are playing on the field. I’m sure if one of our players got injured due to the impact from slipping on the perimeter of the pitch, all of those claiming that we are are “moaners” would have a very different view.
I am loving every second of this season and it shouldn’t be taken for granted and I am enjoying my while it lasts, but we should still look to voice possible improvements about the club.
Isn’t that what VK says about our team? He’s not bothered we are 1st in the league because we are actually 21st in the league. Is that not being a whining, miserable be11end? I, of course, think it’s an elite mentality, but if someone on this message board had said that, they’d have been crucified

Of course you can talk about what you like. Just as people can respond by pointing out how it's not healthy to be deliberately finding things to worry about. Poor mindset.

To be honest, that really shouldn’t be necessary - a blind man can see the problem. If I were the groundsman I’d be embarrassed not to have fixed the glaring problem.

Maybe we could fit some little hooks in the players boots and have some wires around the pitch so when they run off it stops them?

Very valid point in the op.
We often see players slipping on that surface. Don’t know why they can’t just lay some astro turf down there….

Or pull a muscle or break a bone. It can certainly cause an injury. And if it did, how silly would it be over something that could have easily been changed and bettered to prevent such things?welsbyswife wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 8:17 pmPoor darlings might slip over. Someone has posted with concerns about player welfare and what could have been a nasty accident for Nathan Tella.

Nathan Tella plays in short, sharp bursts and as a result sometimes struggles to pull up quickly. He has often collided with the wall at The Jimmy Mac end.

Re: Pitch perimeter
It could easily be Astro turfed as said above, or that rubbery stuff on playgrounds. Could also do with some sort of cushioning on the walls in case a player does go flying into it ! Can’t believe that and the pits hasn’t been sorted sooner tbh.

We have the same conversation, every match. It is treacherous. What's the purpose? Needs replacing and quickly. Health and Safety for these millions of pounds players.

It’s probably the beer, does wonders for folks confidence.
It’s dangerous and only a matter of time before a player hurts themselves down that longside area, the brick pits need to go as well

There seems to be a correlation between a number of those who look for things to worry about and those who continually ruin threads out of an inability to let anything go. Too tense some folk. Can't be good for the blood pressure.

It’s been reported several times but I think things have now progressed on this through the safety advisory group which could force the club to do something.

Good to see this fixed today. Well done to the club

Whenever the pitch is relaid I’d like to see it levelled and extended to the longside.
Hopefully the club thinking this way in potential preparation for a new BL too.

Re: Pitch perimeter
The issue VK was talking about post Blackpool hasn't been fixed. They have astroturfed the slippy tarmac looking section in front of the JH which did need doing after Tella nearly having an accident v Huddersfield.
The area a couple of feet outside the touchline and before the slope begins is still a 3G looking surface and it is this that VK has a problem with.
