A whirlwind summer transfer window when it was difficult to keep track of all the comings and goings.
Then after a relatively slow start as players settled in, bar the amazing 1st half at Huddersfield, we've been unstoppable for months, and even opposition managers are routinely stating we are one of if not the best ever Championship side.
Every time we've faced a challenge we've shown the resilience to regroup and immediately bounce back in the following game.
The stats are there for all to see.
Heading for one of the biggest Championship points hauls ever.
Scored the most, conceded the least.
Barely lost a game all season.
10 successive wins equalling the Championship record.
But what's been really transformative is the manner in which we've achieved all these landmarks.
Muric playing on the halfway line quite often must have given a few traditionalists grey hairs, not to mention his passing to either flank, or even going longer if required.
Beyer with his driving runs, and he possesses a handy shot as well given the opportunity, THB spraying long range passes with accuracy.
Maatsen, Roberts & Vitinho marauding down the flanks must have given opposing full backs sleepless nights.
Ditto Benson, JBG & Zaroury on the wings, it's been a long time since we've witnessed genuine wingers we can get you on the edge of your seat.
The engine room of Brownhill, Cork & Cullen in midfield ensuring we controlled the tempo of games.
And last but by no means least, Barnes & Jay being reinvigorated, plus Tella scoring goals for fun, including 2 quickfire hat-tricks in the space of a couple of weeks.
Yes we are playing in the Championship, but VK and this squad have brought the fun back, and the buzz is back again.
It seems bizarre but if there was ever a good relegation then last May was it. that allowed us to clear the decks and rebuild with younger players who can hopefully only improve under Kompany's tutoring.
Next season will obviously provide much sterner tests, but with sensible recruitment no reason why we can't at least cement a mid-table berth.
Whatever next season does bring good and bad, this campaign will rightly live long in the memories of any Clarets.
Thanks Vinny Kompany, and keep up the sterling work.
