Foster needs games.

Whether or not he proves to be good enough remains to be seen. Not giving him the opportunities now won’t serve us or him well in the long run.

Obafemi by comparison has more experience of playing at this level. In that respect, it’s perhaps less important to give him a run, though I’m not discounting the fact that he too might benefit from more integration into the first team.

I just think it’s a much bigger step for Foster (new country, new league, new team, different opposition, different style, different role, different expectations) and we need to do everything we can to integrate him and get him up to speed.

We have to trust that there was something there that prompted us to spend relatively big money on him.

Wrong moves now could see him become a costly flop.

I’d give Foster and Twine another crack at the whip. Maybe Al-Dakhil as well

I’m presuming that Tella is out injured

I’d go for this too I think. Not at all convinced by Foster but would like to see more of him now there’s nothing to play for. Similar with Twine, who I think may have an opportunity to shine playing in a stronger lineup. Selection made a little easier with Tella and Brownhill presumably being unavailable.

Darwin Nunez cost Liverpool 75 million euros plus and another 25 if they hit add ons. Players from abroad rarely hit the ground running, Grealish cost City 100 million and was garbage last season, he's been brilliant this - give Foster time FFS

Same as against Reading but with the injured replaced appropriately.
I want to see more of Foster and Twine. I want to see more of Taylor in this set up to see if he'll be getting replaced in the summer or part of the premier League squad.
I want to see if Churlinov is going to be worth a bid.
I want to learn more about the players who've had the least amount of time on the pitch with a run of games.

I’d be happy with this. A few more minutes to fringe players. I want to see Churlinov myself. Because he is one who is on the edge of being shipped out (along with Bastien).

I expect to see a Reading mk2 game on Tuesday - a team of giants playing for a draw with 10 men behind the ball for the entire game. A point against the champions is like gold dust when you’re in a relegation dogfight. The roar from the crowd at full time yesterday was as if Reading had won the FA Cup.

We will miss Tella’s high pressing ability to open up this type of defence and Benson (if fit) is too light-weight to start a game against a fresh fullback. Better to bring him on as an impact sub against a tired opponent, on a yellow card.

So, I expect VK to continue with his promise to use this to give some game time to some of the fringe players. He made 5 changes for Reading so I wouldn’t be surprised to see some appearances by Ekdal, Vitinho, Bastien, Churlinov and Obafemi with more game time for Taylor, Foster and Twine.

The record has gone, and not worth risking players carrying knocks.
We also need to persist with giving these players game time.
I'm sure VK will have run through the game tape from Reading, and pointed out the missed opportunities.

No it hasn’t, we can still equal it, and if we want that title of ‘best ever Champioship side’ we need to equal it, which is still do-able if we don’t play under strength line ups.

I would have Obafemi as in inside forward allowing Vitinho to use the width, with Twine central but operating on the same line, while having Zaroury as a wide player on the left

Rotherham will be another physical battle. They can play, but they won't be afraid to put it about either. We need our best available side imo, let's wrap this thing up.

I hope Foster starts up top and that the rest of the front line is as strong as we can play in the circumstances - for no other reason than that I think it's really important we give Foster the best possible chance to transition to English football and begin to feel comfortable in our set up: too many changes makes the whole thing stilted. That means Zaroury to start, probably Benson if fit (he's just coming back from injury and went off with cramp in what was his first 90 minutes in a long time). There may be an argument for Barnes starting at centre forward and letting Foster play from wide/ in that inside forward role, where I thought he looked quite promising against Sheff U. That would take the pressure of Foster to do the physical stuff and allow him to focus on playing facing the goal and building his confidence/familiarity with English football.
