Arriving in Florence tomorrow morning for a few days, and recommendations?
Loads to see and do. Easy enough on foot if you're able to get around that way.
Santa Spirito area was really nice. According to the golf buggy tour we did it had been regarded as the coolest neighbourhood in Europe. Antique and boutique style shops / cool bars / restaraunts and generally nice vibes.
Piazzale Michaelangelo for the best views over the city. Before we started ascending the hill there was a little cluster of bars and restaraunts packed with locals. It was our last day but would have liked to have checked that area out.
Sant Ambrogio Market was a highlight for me. Food market with a flea market beside and a little run of antique shops just accross the street. The sandwiches and polenta 'lasagne' dishes we got there were superb.
If you do the Uffizi gallery give yourself time to have a drink on the roof terrace cafe - amazing location/views.
Rooftop cocktail bar at Grand Hotel Cavour has amazing 360 degree views including over the Cathedral. You'll have to call ahead and reserve a table.
I enjoyed the architecture and just wandering into random churches and galleries as we made our way around.
Saw a brilliant exhibition called Women in Balance at the Salvatore Ferragamo museum.
Book tickets for Cathedral, Uffizi, Academia gallery and other big sites in advance if you're planning on doing them or you'll be queueing for half your trip.
