I'm sure that will be recouped with the increased trade in the souvenir, hospitality etc etc market. Don't blame Charles for the useless incompetent politicians of all colours who have let our country stagnate.

Can we stop this notion that he supports Burnley. He doesn't.

He said he looks out for our results, which is polite way of saying he's not interested in football

He told people at a charity event he supported a team from a poor community that one of his charges apparently serves. It was just a sound bite for the context of the event. Nothing more. He wouldn't even know we're champions I bet.

It’s the price of a big bag of crisps each. I’ll put an extra bag in with my next donation.

It was reported that the event brought in over a billion pound, that's a lot of tax paid

It is believed it would generate £350m-£450m. UK Beer and Pub Association say it will generate £71m in that sector alone. Also, some of the cost would already be being paid as the armed forces and police who should have been on duty today would have been paid anyway.

The royal family are the best part of being British. Something to actually be proud of.

All these losers that want rid of them just need to grow up and stop blaming them for the own problems.

Surely a wind up? So many Britons who have achieved so much in so many fields - industry, engineering, business, arts, sports and the only thing to be proud of is the royal family?

Peanuts compared to the tens of billions of £’s squandered by the Tory government led by Boris Johnson on duff contracts, consultants paid up to £6000.00 a day, and a £34 billion Test and Trace system never fit for purpose.

I too yearn for the day we can have a Trump,Reagan, Bush, Clinton,Macron,Putin etc etc. Our monarch is symbolic but should and in fairness does speak up and represent us really well . Can you imagine Charles having the power to raise the retirement age or invade other countries? If that was the case I'd be a real anti monarchies. It's British history, culture and eccentricity and itvwill do for me.

I'm not particularly for or against the Royal family but to suggest it costs us nothing isn't true. Its somewhere in the region of £250k per day.

Now you could argue they bring in tourism, but is it the Royals themselves or the Palaces that do that.

Anyway, if your a royalist, I hope you've enjoyed your day but remember around 30% of the population aren't and can also have an opinion.

Adds approx £1.75bn to the UK economy every year. Costs the taxpayer 1p per day (per head).

The Palace of Versailles has more annual visitors than any UK 'Royal' Landmark.

Tourists don't come to England to see the Royal frigging family. Such a false equivalence

I’m only just a Royalist , I’m interested in History , I like the fact the Royal family goes so far back and it’s all documented.
I like the sense of tradition.

Loving the Monarchy & being a little Englander is such faux-Patriotism.

It's embarrassing and holds us back massively.

'Best of Britain' the country is f****** and people are happy to overlook all that to watch a bunch of toffs frollock around the capital Live Action Role Playing as though it's the 16th Century

The forces marching through the streets, the Palace garden salute, the public running to the Palace, that’s hundreds of years of respect to the British forces, it’s people and its relationship to the monarch. Total class, skills and expertise, made me proud to be British today. Bravo to them all, superb skills.

Our monarchy is the envy of the world, the original, the best.

All for the price of a Pogba and an Andy Carroll. Nothing wrong with following tradition.

Just what is it with scousers? The royal family paid their respects after Hillsborough , they visit the city on a regular basis, do they think the money spent today would be better spent on Merseyside how to be victims projects ?

Yes not to mention the Princes Trust has helped over 900,000 disadvantaged children get employment / into business, while the late Prince Phillip’s Duke of Edinburgh award has been completed by over 7m children. They are just two of the charities/schemes out of the 420 that King Charles is a patron of. There aren’t specific numbers available for the city of Liverpool but I am quite sure they will have their own % of those children involved/assisted.

What's the difference?

Pageantry is ********, skills and expertise of what? It doesn't mean anything other than you're good at putting a precession on

They really aren't, we're the laughing stock of Europe.

The military should be for the people, to uphold liberty of the people, not a service to a frigging family.

It astounds me folk - especially from the North, given the sacrifices of our fathers/grandfathers and ancestors for millennia sent to their deaths to fight wars for self-righteous 'Monarchs' can look at today and be anything other than disgusted.

Give me a Pogba or a Carroll - least they pay their taxes.

I know several members of our Armed Services and they described today as the proudest day of their lives (one was involved in the said marching) - so you are completely wrong with your assessment of being anything other than disgusted.

Why because I am patriotic and love what the royal family offer
What do they 'offer'?

Faux Patriotism. Shove a few flags up and get the toffs in 16th Century attire and it's all so Patriotic

It's like going on the Shankill Road area in Belfast, the place is a complete run down **** heap but there's flags everywhere. Bonkers way of thinking,

Actual Patriotic acts = selflessly improving and supporting one's country, not pageantry

There is so much misery in the world today you'd have thought that today which is a celebration would be embraced and respected.

I'm talking about when people were conscripted and it wasn't a professional career.

I'd think they were utterly bizarre if their main reason for service is to uphold the Monarchy tbh - stockholm syndrome

Tell me why with solid logic (not inferring emotion or 'tradition') your best steel man argument why a hereditary monarch, in 2023m should be 'embraced and respected'
