Never thought I’d ever say this, but I think we should be looking to move him on. I don’t think there’s enough in his locker to be a threat in the PL.

People (including me) were saying that about Barnes not so long ago.

His fitness is the issue really. We need experience in the dressing room. May not be a regular starter (through injuries rather than ability) but we need some players to help the younger ones next year.

Out of the two of them, I would imagine Barnes would be the better option for that role.

Anyway, in VK we trust - he’s earned it for sure.

Rodriguez is twice the player Barnes is, just needs to stay fit.

Most likely down to contract situation as both would offer that experience I agree.

we need new fire power for the Premier league. Barnes has been great and Jay too but we need to build a side for the future. Great respect to them two but its time. The Coventry lad Gyokeres looks good

VK said in a recent interview Jay Rod would have scored 29 this season if remained fit. Both he and Barnes the same age and amongst our highest earners, but Jays scored more this season and the better technical player of the two. Likely we will look to bring a younger striker permanently in and therefore no room for both JR and AB next season.

I think we'll try and move Jay on this summer.

He does, but don't forget that Coventry may well be accompanying us to the PL, which of course would change things.

If he’s fit then we need to keep him next season. He might not start but he knows what it takes in the prem to score goals and he’s a much better player than some on here give him credit for.
