My favourite 'not that important moment' from Ashley Barnes, because there are more really important moments than can be allotted to any other player in recent years, is his goal against Swansea 2-0 at home in the Premier League. He just t**ted it reyt ard, a proper 'av it!' moment.

Goal against palace.

Ash will be missed here. Gave everything, and we can’t ask for any more than that.

As Burnley fans we can and do forgive a lack of ability - sometimes we even embrace the player who’s lacking, but what we WON’T and DON’T forgive is a lack of effort. Ashley Barnes can never be accused of that. Thanks Ash, you’ve been incredible.

Not always been at the top of my favourite players list, but he’s been one hell of a bargain / signing and is a club legend. I hope he goes on to play for a few more years and be loved and appreciated by other fans. Thank you Ashley for all you’ve done for our club, hero.

He'd been tarnishing his legacy up to then (a lot down to injuries and lack of form tbf) with his last couple of years performances but he's going to go out in style and I couldn't be more pleased for him

Against City away to make it 2-2 was sat in the home end with a City supporting mate I had to apologise for my celebrations

Difficult to put into words. Not been a prolific 20+ striker but has offered much more than goals with so many highs, not least this season with that pivotal goal when he scored and shoved the rovers keeper into the back of the net. Great character, plays with real passion and the right time to go on a high. Agree with previous posts, would he great to see him start as captain tomorrow and bag one last goal. He will be missed but the time is right to move on. It's the end of an era and wish him all the best. Tomorrow will be emotional for us all and Ash.

And that’s how to leave a club ! Thanks Ash. I think my best memory is a recent one - putting the Rovers keeper in the back of the net after scoring.

I'm going to be rather more emotional tomorrow than I would have been had he left last summer.

Spin back 12 months and he was coming off a couple of seasons where he looked like he'd forgotten how to play football and even his sh*thousing powers had deserted him.

A year later he's finishing off a damn fine season as a key part of a team that have romped the League.

There probably won't be a bigger cheer anywhere in the country tomorrow if he manages to finish with a goal.

Man City in 2014/15. It wasn’t just his goal but that second half performance from him that day was centre forward play at its absolute best.

He’s scored some stunning goals for us. A lot of mention too of his first against Blackburn but what about the second? That was great skill from him.

I enjoyed his long-range strike at Wolves a few years ago. He was in blistering form, averaging around 1 in 2 and Southgate even had to come out and explain why he wasn't being picked for England. He was injured for a whole soon after that, sadly.

Goes alongside Dean Marney, Michael Duff, Ben Mee, Robbie Blake and a few others as modern day Burnley heroes. If they remixed the Heroes intro these are the ones to put up there.

Of course the goal against them down the road, but the goal against West Ham away will always stick in my mind.

Most iconic goal - first v Rovers
Favourite goal - v Wigan
Most important goal- that winner against Palace in the autumn of 2016 which arguably defined our Premier League survival
Best goal - probably away at West Ham

But he's got some back catalogue. He's been a fabulous servant and when you look back at the headline moments of the last 8 years, he's in all of them. He's a club legend.

I’ll be quite emotional tomorrow saying goodbye to Ash. He’s embodied the town on the pitch. Hard working, tough, no-nonsense and giving every ounce of himself to the cause. That’s all the cliche stuff out of the way - the bit that Burnley fans know that goes alongside is that the lad can play a bit too. A great first touch, a ferocious shot and capable of making some of the greatest defenders in the world look out of their depth.

So many great moments, but I’ll throw the goal away at Barnsley in the 13/14 promotion season in as a real favourite. He’d joined us in January as Ings and Vokes were tearing the league up and was a bit of an odd man out at first. Then they both got injured one after another and he became an excellent stand in, that goal was massive too. His ‘best’ goal for me was at White Hart Lane. We lost the game, but that was a superb goal and was beautiful to witness from the corner as we saw it bend all the way in below us.

He’s going to score tomorrow, you just know it. I’ll shed a tear I think. The only other players that have made me get a lump in my throat as they bowed out at home were Glen (trudging round the pitch crying against Sunderland in Stan’s last game) and Robbie (came on as a sub as we beat Spurs 4-2 under Laws). That’s some company to be in.

I listen to a lot of football podcast and a common theme is the frustration and anger players feel when they are not kept in the loop when coming to the end of their contract.

Clearly Barnes has known for a while that his contract will not be extended. Fair play to VK for being honest with Barnes and letting him know early enough so he can find a new club.

Also fair play to Barnes who could have easily feigned injury to make sure he doesn't do his ACL or whatever in the final games of the season. He has played with his usual swash buckling bravery.

Its been handled by both parties very well

Ashley Barnes what a class act you have been for Burnley FC. I have enjoyed watching your appearances for the club and you have given us some special moments. A Clarets legend who will be truly missed. Opposing teams always feared your commitment for us and some team will be getting a top bloke that frightens defenders I hope you get back to the club in some capacity after your playing days have finished. Thankyou Ashley for everything.
