Happened 17/18 season apparently but a rare occurrence. Only happened four times in PL history.
Newcastle, Brighton and Huddersfield were the teams in 17/18

Bournemouth is the most impressive to be fair, they bought quite a bit in the Xmas window and sailed out of danger

Re: 3 promoted clubs
I don’t think Fulham spent that much relatively speaking.
Re: 3 promoted clubs
Bournemouth around 70m and Fulham around 40m. Most of Bournemouth’s was in Jan and ending up saving them.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 7:57 pmwe know Forest spent the GDP of a small country to do it

Yeah just spent wisely. Good loan or two as well. Willian on a free was clever.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 8:09 pmI don’t think Fulham spent that much relatively speaking.

They kept hold of a lot of their players when they went down after spending a lot the year beforeSwizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 8:09 pmI don’t think Fulham spent that much relatively speaking.
Nitpicking really, but I think that counts

Yes you are right there.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 9:38 pmthere is a lot of historical spending and operating loss in that Fulham team

No team that got 100+ points going has ever come straight back down
Re: 3 promoted clubs
Forest had to spend the GDP of a small country, otherwise they would have been absolutely battered! Away from home, they still have been!Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 7:57 pmwe know Forest spent the GDP of a small country to do it

Re: 3 promoted clubs
If only Danny Ings had stepped forward and taken the penalty instead of Matt Taylor at the Turf, history could have been very different!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun May 21, 2023 5:56 pmLeicester were close in 2015. Looked certain to go down. They’d won four of the first 29 games and then incredibly won seven of the last nine.

Re: 3 promoted clubs
Leicester had won the three games before that. Taylor was a good striker of a ball and had taken penalties but had it gone in then who knows? If you just change that result from 0-1 to 1-0, we still go down but the effect it might have had on Leicester we will never know.

Wonder what clicked for Pearson and the team to go on such an amazing run as they looked doomed?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun May 21, 2023 5:56 pmLeicester were close in 2015. Looked certain to go down. They’d won four of the first 29 games and then incredibly won seven of the last nine.

Bournemouth are owned by billionaire Bill Foley with a minority share owned Hollywood 'A' lister who is so famous his name escapes me. Fulham are owned by Shahid Kahn who is a billionaire and Notts Forest are owned by a Greek Billionaire.
It'll be interesting to see where Alan Pace sits in the PL rich list. I think Matthew Benham is a relative pauper at around £300 million,

We know of 10 people linked with the ownership groupClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Sun May 21, 2023 9:34 pmBournemouth are owned by billionaire Bill Foley with a minority share owned Hollywood 'A' lister who is so famous his name escapes me. Alan Pace, Mike Smith, Stuart Hunt, Morgan Edwards and John Dewey at ALK:
Dave Checketts is a board member of ALK and I wouldn't be surprised if Antonio Parra was too
Then we have Malcolm Jenkins and the Watt family
- my guess is that it is at least double that, certainly by looking at the directors box for the Cardiff game, none of those people in the usually empty seats were Cardiff Executives or Directors, but were absolutely engaged in the game
