Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I still think we will get a loan deal done on Sergio Gomez.
He knows VK well, like a father figure, and has played more professional games under VK than anyone else.
So ..fingers crossed

City signed the left-back last summer from RSC Anderlecht, where 47 of the 50 appearances he made for the Belgian club came under Vincent Kompany’s management, in a deal worth a reported fee of £11m.
During his time in Belgium, the 22-year-old managed to score seven goals and deliver 15 assists across his 50 appearances in all competitions, which could be why City brought him to England.

Yeah totally get your point that in 12 months time your back go square one if you can’t buy said player, but rather loan a non established prem player then spend 10-15mil on a player and it not work out.andyh wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 8:20 pmI guess my point is Diallo is no safer bet than the sort of players Kompany has managed to find. He is not an established prem league striker. He is a kid that might (or might not) come good next season. And in 12 months we are in no better place and we’ve 1 less year of VK.
Suppose every signing loan or perm there’s always that risk it doesn’t work, we didn’t pretty well last season only 2 or 3 so far haven’t worked out yet
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Interesting tidbit I’ve just read on twitter is that Chelsea require the Havertz to Arsenal deal to go through before June 30th to ensure it meets the deadline for the account period 22/23, otherwise they’ll fall foul of FFP.
Interesting for us as depending how they’re getting on with getting their house in order they may need players like Maatsen out of the door quickly. I guess we’ll know more about their intentions to keep or loan him closer to that date.

Reportedly a link in the Mail (yes I know), Burnley in the hunt to sign Japan striker Keito Nakamura, 22, from LASK (Austria).
Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Aston Villa also interested.

That would make a lot of sense in one way. Pace is trying to spread the word about Burnley and make us more of a global brand. Look how many South Koreans are now Spurs fans with Son at the club.Claret Toni wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 9:00 amReportedly a link in the Mail (yes I know), Burnley in the hunt to sign Japan striker Keito Nakamura, 22, from LASK (Austria).

He also doesn't appear to be a duffer either, with 17 goals from the left side..Gordaleman wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 9:07 amThat would make a lot of sense in one way. Coventry fans reckon Luke McNally is signing for them permanently - possibly to be announced today. Was told via text from a mate of mine who is a Cov fan - couldn't see anything on Twitter about it, but he read it on their forum where there is a thread discussing it.

I would be happy for him but also a bit dissapointed as he is a real talent. He would , under Dyche have been a regular sub for either Tarlks or Ben but I just don't think he is a VK player. Could see Charlie T moving on as well this summer.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 11:35 amCoventry fans reckon Luke McNally is signing for them permanently - possibly to be announced today. Agree with both points. So long as we make a profit on McNally it is all good isnt it.Guller Bull wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 11:44 amI would be happy for him but also a bit dissapointed as he is a real talent. Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Agree with you that he looks a capable prospect - I just think we have moved really fast since he signed for us and he's probably a victim of our success as a result. He's currently 5th choice you'd guess (after Beyer, Al-Dakhil, Ekdal and Taylor) so is unlikely to see much, if any, first team action for us. One would assume we could be asking for something in the region of £4-5m considering his age, profile and performances for them. That would be a really good profit on the £1.6m we paid considering he barely touched a ball for us.Guller Bull wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 11:44 amI would be happy for him but also a bit dissapointed as he is a real talent. Pure assumption here but if it is true that they are buying him, then I would guess that means we are not really in for Gyokeres as surely he would have been used as a makeweight. One we can probably cross off the striker list.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I’m not sure we ever saw him as a realistic target. Not good enough to be a marquee signing and not cheap enough to turn a profit. Good player but doesn’t fit the model.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 11:47 am

Then there is also Bobby Thomas who had a good season with Barnsley. Wonder if he will move on.

Maitland-Niles has been released by Arsenal. Played 22 games for Southampton last season. Weren't we supposedly in for him?
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
He would add some height and strength to our cm but never seen him have a particularly good game for Southampton last year
Cork is maybe getting a bit too old for the pace of the Premiership and not sure Brownhill and Cullen together will be competitive enough
Rico Lewis could be a good addition for us in this key area of the pitch if City would loan him out

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
He’s only an inch bigger than Josh Cullen !!
Looks like we might have dodged a bullet there when we were being quoted £20m for him. He looked good for Arsenal and thought he’d do well for Saints but like you say he had a poor season for them.
Might be more to do with Southampton and their struggles last year - can’t be easy going to a club who are getting beat most weeks and changing manager 3 times in one season. Especially if you are on loan and trying to settle in yourself.
Might be a good signing for someone if he can recapture the form he had at Arsenal
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Would like for us to be in for Maitland-Niles.

We were yes, but he decided to believe Arteta when he promised him more first team game time at Arsenal and then was loaned out later that season if I remember rightly, to Everton.

What makes you think we are "all" sick of it. I have my own opinion and I quite like Jakub. People like you are like that Bosscat poster. You both come across as bullies as you try to get other posters on your side.

Thanks, you have raised some good points, but I'd much prefer if people did discuss transfers after all that's what the thread is supposed to be about, I can handle the MB bullies by simply ignoring it doesn't bother me.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
That's great Jakub, we're agreed then.
This thread should be about discussing transfers.
Not irrelevant things like, say, how secure someone is within themselves.
Back to transfer discussion from here on in.

I have never heard any manager or commentator say and today at “high and wide” position Arsenal are playing…..
Defensively YES
KRBFC was the one banging on about his role was to be high and wide which is utter garbage, he's a full back
