Seems a very reasonable fee. WBA obviously need the money if they’re not willing to haggle for an extra million to meet the release clause.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Looking like it could be a difficult window. We are targeting a higher calibre of player and it will probably feel like we'll miss out on a few. Verbruggen being one already, however even signing one or two players of the ilk reported will be a massive upgrade. Have patience guys. For what its worth I think we'll get Tresor.

Very happy with that feeArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 1:59 pmO'Shea.
Medical underway with reported £7m fee.
Not the worst fee I've seen for a young defender if it's accurate. Presume it's not all paid up front either.

Going to sound horrible, but we do need to target players in clubs that have financial issues
It will give us more bang for our buck

I dont think we'd signed anyone this time last year, but ended up with 16 in the windowConroy92 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 2:18 pmLooking like it could be a difficult window. I've seen West Brom fans saying in normal circumstances O'Shea would be worth £20M.ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 1:59 pmO'Shea.

But with the way things are financially right now with the Baggies they would hope for £10M

I’d still be excited by the signing of Mikautadze
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I'm sure Mikautadze is a good player but I want us to sign him mainly so that we can maybe sing
Alan Pace went to France
In a Claret taxi
Brought us back a striker called

But if Kompany isn't interested in him, why the excitement?

Boulaye Dia linked along with West Ham and Everton and 3 Italian clubs. Tend to think any player who is linked to more then three club then it’s their event trying to up the interest, lost count of the amount of attacking players we have been linked to so far

Unless it’s from a very reliable source, I never entertain anything that links a player to a number of clubs. Like you say, just an agent trying to drum up interest or a journalist looking for something to print.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 3:23 pmBoulaye Dia linked along with West Ham and Everton and 3 Italian clubs. Must be the PL pull for O’Shea. I’ll be amazed if he is above 4th choice. Although if he is then he’s a better player than I’ve seen and will be a big plus.

James Trafford again. Surely we won't be paying 15-20 million for someone whose senior experience is at league 1 level

Beyer was a right back in Germany, with the way he carries the ball maybe he might get used in that role more this season?123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 3:52 pmDon’t imagine we would spend 7mil on someone to be 4th choice

Southampton paid £14m for Gavin Bazanu from City last season who had only had a experience in League One.Cap wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 3:54 pmhttps://twitter.com/footyinsider247/sta ... AMowQ&s=19

Bazanu has been very poor this season though and it looks like they over paid for him so not a great example imo.
The reality is if they want that kind of money we should walk (if not run) away.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Trafford is certainly a great profile to be looking at. Bolton fans loved him and he’s only 20 so plenty of years to improve before peaking and if he comes good sooner then imagine how much he’ll be worth. Would be a great second choice keeper imo.
Whilst footyinsider come out with some garbage, this link has been around for weeks now which makes you think there is something in it.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
personally, I don't think we need first team players in the following positions, GK/RB/CH's and I'd prefer and funds spent on positions we do need
So' I'm looking at LB, CM's 2, striker as priority targets, for me Tresor is the one I like the look/sound of the most, WW going and funds will make it easier in the striker department, Tella definitely one I'd like to see back! However, Maatsen I think is ok and won't be disappointed but feel the Man City boy would be better, but as always, finances and what players want will dictate.
After that a left sided winger.
Certainly been so many names linked that I've forgotten many

All bedded into the squad now. O’Shea will really need to impress to get in ahead of them 3 for me. August 11th all will be revealed.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it but Pep is going mad on playing 3-4 Centre Halves just not in a back 3. It gives additional cover at set pieces and steel to the midfield. Maybe Vinny is copying his mentor.

Pep has been playing the England centre half in midfield and he’s been brilliant..maybe VK has something similar in mind for Beyer… just a thought

So which of our keepers would you have on the bench then, (or indeed as first choice if Muric were to get injured)?
IMO another PL standard keeper has to be one of our main priorities.

Flemming similar position to tresor, number 10 who can play out from the left, maybe we have been priced out of tresor, but again football insider aren’t the most reliable source

Does O'Shea impending arrival suggest that we have given up hope on THB?
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Flemming had a great season and he seems very much to be a Burnley sort of player, in that there's potential for people to spell his name wrong.

Possibly never was any hope. He’s still very young. City may want to wait a season or a two more to see what they have. Not many top 6 sides blood CBs young.forzagranata wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 7:10 pmDoes O'Shea impending arrival suggest that we have given up hope on THB?

Flemming played really well for them early on in the season at the Turf.

If we are going to do a Brighton/Brentford we will have to cash in on such as Al Dakhil, he does look a real prospect, and to do that we have to have succession in place.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 3:46 pmMust be the PL pull for O’Shea. The expectancy is killing g, but we have to have faith in VK and AP.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Verbruggen man of the match against Belgium yesterday declared in an interview that still nothing is decided and no contract has been signed yet. Top class guy I still hope Burnley push through with a good bid and close the deal. He really shouldn't go to Brighton.

Don't think Al dakil will be going anywhere at least not at the moment, if he does eventually go the plan will be for him to realise his full potential, that will be in the prem with Burnley.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 7:27 pmIf we are going to do a Brighton/Brentford we will have to cash in on such as Al Dakhil, he does look a real prospect, and to do that we have to have succession in place.

I don't think he's going anywhere soon either, but to buy a replacement after he's gone is a dangerous tightrope to walk. His eventual replacement needs to be in now. Time to learn VKs system, and time to assess if he will be good enough for the Prem.alwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 7:32 pmDon't think Al dakil will be going anywhere at least not at the moment, if he does eventually go the plan will be for him to realise his full potential, that will be in the prem with Burnley.

Al-dakhil is with Belgium u21s depending on how far they go he will be behind the curve when it comes to pre season training so I’d imagine it’s Ekdal or O’Shea to partner Beyer at first
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I think we do need back up & I'd consider the likes of Trafford to be that although I've never seen him play, what I was saying, IMO, we don't need to be buying the likes of Verbruggen, who I think is probably very good but I don't think him and Muric together. As that is a costly exercise and we are not at that level yet, funds for a GK like Verbruggen can be better spent elsewhere.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 6:52 pmSo which of our keepers would you have on the bench then, (or indeed as first choice if Muric were to get injured)?

I'm still hopeful of Tresor and not writing him off yet, if it's Flemming, so be it, or indeed anyone VK deems to be that player of choice.
