Re: ARTICLE:Clarets land England and Manchester City goalkeeper Trafford
Good article CT but I think you missed out "English" when referring to him as the 3rd most expensive keeper ever. Not a dig just thought I'd let you know so you can amend!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2023 6:00 pmSigning confirmed

Hopefully, if he realises is full potential he could be England's number one for years to come.
Good luck James.

A hell of a lot by our standards. Didnt the new striker cost about £12million?Juan Tanamera wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2023 6:20 pmHopefully, if he realises is full potential he could be England's number one for years to come.

Got to feel a bit for Muric after last season, although admittedly, I still had my reservations about the keeping element of his role, especially at the higher level.

Re: ARTICLE:Clarets land England and Manchester City goalkeeper Trafford
VK wants competition for every position.
That being the case the no1 role is up for grabs, to whoever shows the better form.
It also means well have excellent back up, whoever claims the gloves.

An exciting signing. Welcome to the club, James.
Having said that, it’s still Muric’s spot to lose for me.

The Prem is the "big boys league" and you are either determined to keep and then perform for the shirt or you weigh up your options. Hopefully the first option is what he aims for-that way the club is on a win, win, leaving us with two great keepers with their own merits and paving the way to make some money from the Peacock Farrel sale.

Re: ARTICLE:Clarets land England and Manchester City goalkeeper Trafford
Must admit although he could be a gem, seems a little unnecessary-
If he is great then city have a buy back clause for 3x our initial outlay…
If he isn’t well, that’s a lot of money for a young, relatively unproven goalkeeper when we have other holes to fill.
Will obviously fully get behind him if/when he starts.
Welcome aboard

Re: ARTICLE:Clarets land England and Manchester City goalkeeper Trafford
Sky are saying 15m + 4m in add-ons.
City get 20%on future sale.
They also have a price match buy back clause, which works well for them as they are paying 20% less than any other club.

This signing guarantees that 1 of Muric or BPF is going. I think BPF will go as he really needs to be looking for regular 1st team football

Gerry Peyton played 30 league games between 1975 and 1977. He was born on 20 May 1956. I think he was still 19 when he made his debut.

Re: ARTICLE:Clarets land England and Manchester City goalkeeper Trafford
We've had goalkeepers play in the first team younger than Trafford is now - Blacklaw, Parton, Finn, Peyton, O'Rourke and Woodworth for certain although only Adam Blacklaw of that group established himself in the first team.

He might knock but his chances of playing will have diminished once Southgate sees '(BURNLEY)" after his name

Re: ARTICLE:Clarets land England and Manchester City goalkeeper Trafford
Regardless of the above, current stuff (based on not much for now at least) on here about him being practically nailed on as a future England keeper is, in all honesty, a bit juvenile.
There'll be more contenders emerging every season for that spot than you can shake a stick at.
Looks a quality signing though, and if he looks as good as his price tag then chapeau to the recruitment team.
