Amdouni could have pinched it if he wanted to, but chose to leave it as it was going in any way.
Good sign that he is confident he'll have plenty more chances.

Spiral wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 7:02 pmRoberts plays well as a rotating fullback, but the point in playing him as a rotating fullback and not as a 2-man CDM unit is that by covering two positions, RB and CDM, it gives you another man (5 in total) in attack while still having a 5-man defensive unit. YEEEES WE'VE SCORED COME ON BURNLEY anyway, as I was saying, if you've got a back four AND you play Roberts alongside another CDM, you've only got 4 in attack, which means you need a bit more from your CDM, and Roberts ain't it. You either play Roberts as a fullback, or as a rotating fullback, but you don't play him with his starting position as a CDM.
FFS, STFU!
Re: Real Betis v Burnley (pre-season friendly) Match thread
Roberts isn't a centre midfielder. He's good as a fullback who wanders into centre mid, but you don't play him there in centre midfield when you could play him at right back. You stick him at right back or you don't play him.

Terrifying how many last ditch tackles our defence get in. On the plus side they do get them in.

Is someone going to tell Phil Bird that Real Betis are not a Portuguese side?

It's 442, we've barely strung two passes together, and we're 1-0 up from a corner. Just like old times

Is Vitinho trying to take someone out? He has gone full blooded into every tackle!

Without being a fly on the wall, I'm confident Roberts is doing exactly what the manager is asking of him.
Are you really saying VK doesn't know what he is doing?
Re: Real Betis v Burnley (pre-season friendly) Match thread
I think he's overplaying to make up for some notable errors earlier in the game (fell on his arse twice, one time when he had the ball). You can understand why players do that, but they can end up making things worse for doing it.burnleymik wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 7:13 pmIs Vitinho trying to take someone out? Number 19 stuck nut on Gudy.
Re: Real Betis v Burnley (pre-season friendly) Match thread
What? No, I'm under no illusion that Roberts is doing exactly what has been asked of him in this game. I just don't see him as a CDM in a proper game. This seems like typical pre-season experimentation/rotation. Not a chance VK plays him as a CDM in the PL.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 7:15 pmWithout being a fly on the wall, I'm confident Roberts is doing exactly what the manager is asking of him.

Bets are treating this like a pre-season friendly.
