It's 1998 and the season is underway with a win under new manager Stan Ternent

Good read that.

I will meet up with Neil Anderson for a pint before the game on Friday. I think he will be telling stories of hitting Shane Warne for 6, after Jimmy mentioned it on sky. Rather than his 50 at Settle.

I missed Jimmy's mention but I can imagine he would. I was talking to Duncan Spencer last week. A few years younger than Neil, Duncan was Shane Warne's first Lancashire League wicket and amazingly also his last.

I've not seen Neil in ages, pass on my best to him. He's a good lad.

And Guy Ipoua too. Not quite the same level as the three above but very good at that level.

They were blessed with good forwards of different skill sets around that time…

Marcus Stewart had just left.
Gareth Taylor around at that point too?

If Crichton hadn’t signed, who would have been in goal for this game?

A bloke got shot in the face and returned to work the next day? Was his name Chuck Norris?

Edit: No, you clearly say in the article that it's Barry Putson who I've just realised is an old mate of my dad's!

Whose one and only claim to fame was saving the penalty that won the 1984 UEFA Cup for Spurs.
