Terrible buy, don't know who's idea it was but obviously his character and temperament weren't looked into.
File under Gibson.
In the 3 previous seasons he played in 110 of the 112 league games and scored 53 goals in the German top division where his character and temperament were obviously ok. Transfers are a lot easier with hindsight

He started well, but quickly faded. I think this just about sums his time up at Turf Moor.

But when we bought him he had fallen out of favour and was training with the reserves. We can't be completely surprised at how it's turned out. We needed a striker quickly and we panicked.

The worst thing you can do for someone who thinks they are a superstar is loan them to Man U or play them for ten minutes in the World Cup. I think he believes he is a Man U legend alongside Rooney or Ronaldo and probably thought scoring the goals at the World Cup put him on a par with Van Basten or Bergkamp.

He clearly thought he had a chance of going back there, hence the social media stuff now. He wasn’t even their permanent player and still he acts like he thinks all the Mancs are going to miss him. Best thing for everyone is today’s business. Mind your head on the way out lad.

Halfway through the season when he joined us he had played in 18 games league games and been an ever present for the previous 5 seasons before those 3 at other clubs.

Like I said it is easy with hindsight

It seems from what Kompany has seen of him over this summer, he doesn't think he will be good enough for the Premier League (which alot of fans already think after what we've seen from him for us and Man Utd) imo apart from working hard, he's never looked good enough for the Premier League.

Pretty sure Kompany as an idea of what is needed at this level after all those years in the Premier League defending against various strikers/ while also playing along side some of the greatest.
So I definitely trust VK's decision to let him leave, he knows more about the Premier League than me or most of us.

Pretty sure Wout's wages are much.. much more than Lyle's and Jay's too. Makes sense to get him off the wage bill (even if they are not covering all of his wages) Vincent could use those funds towards another striker he does rate.

Yes. No idea why some aren’t considering him.
I'm considering him, maybe not as an out and out striker though (which would be nice to have) but even with him I think we need another. Foster, Rodriguez, Amdouni. Doesn't feel quite enough. Would love to be wrong though.

Weghorst stats in the EPL:
Burnley (2021-22)
Played 20
Scored 2
Assists 3

ManUtd (2022-23)
Played 17
Scored 0
Assists 1

Not exactly someone who could be classed as our best centre forward.

I wish him well at Hoffenheim. I hope he bags 20+ goals for them this season. That way, we may be able to sell him to someone next summer.

Him going is the best decision for all concerned.
Close the chapter and let’s move on with the exciting young team VK is putting together.

Wonder what Alan and VK can do about those idiots who disagree with the meaning of why players are taking the knee? Wonder if all of the good stuff happening at the club can be enough for them just to remain silent if they don't agree?
Called it......We are a club full of racists and idiots. If you don't agree with it - just keep silent.
