Not involved in tonight’s squad and not much he could’ve done as Villa struggled defensively.Darnhill Claret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:17 pmI have a feeling that we may not see Aaron Ramsey for another 2 weeks after our game against Aston Villa.

I don't disagree regarding Foster, I think he had a good game offensively - but he was never going to help Vitinho out defensively.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 5:11 pmStrangely I have the complete opposite opinion. I think Foster was arguably our best player coming from the left.
I’m not sure Taylor would have been a better fit. He is so limited technically, that he would have struggled to make the passes and play the role Vitinho was asked to do.
I thought in the middle section of the park Vitinho actually wasn’t bad on the ball.
I think we'd have had fewer balls into the box from that side if Taylor was defending, they're obviously different players but Taylor is a much better defender than Vits.
Yeah true, but we're up against the best side in the world. I just think a left hand side of Vits and Foster was just asking for trouble, and we got punished for it. I can't say for certain Taylor would have been any better and we still might have conceded the same goals though, it was just an observation.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:49 pmDidn't Mahrez do us on the right wing fairly regularly against Charlie Taylor? It's not a criticism of our players, just how Man City choose to exploit us.

I hope that's the last time we see those 3 centre backs play in those positions. If we are going to play those 3, we'd be better putting Beyer in front of the back 4, just like Rodri. He was outstanding and Beyer has all the qualities to play the same role.
Of course it won't work until we get Mattsen back or Gomez on loan.

We were playing against City. Those 3 will be just fine.summitclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 7:57 pmI hope that's the last time we see those 3 centre backs play in those positions. I like them all. Just think we can't play that system without outstanding wing backs and we don't have them atm.

Not sure what the delay is around announcing Ramsey but I expect an announcement very soon.
I still believe Lokonga to be done also but I was told that there’d be no imminent announcement on that one.l as he’s still injured.

Take no notice of those who are either jealous or can’t handle that you know more. CT has had to put up with the same accusations, you just need to rise above it. I have a video from last night that seems to back up what you are saying, but can’t post it on here. If what that sacha guy is saying is true then lokonga doesn’t seem the player for us, if the fact he would be playing premier league football and under kompany again then time to move on

We don't know what the issues were though. It could have been about his position in the squad, or expected game time, or just injury issues.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 10:20 pmIf what that sacha guy is saying is true then lokonga doesn’t seem the player for us, if the fact he would be playing premier league football and under kompany again then time to move on

Personal terms is very likely to be what we are prepared to pay him. I don't see that getting resolved. Move on.burnley007 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 10:28 pmWe don't know what the issues were though. It could have been about his position in the squad, or expected game time, or just injury issues.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Lukebakio deal is also off apparently.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Personal terms for Lokonga was always likely to be a problem though given he was quite a large signing for Arsenal 2 years ago and his current wages will reflect that.
How many on here would take a (probable) pay cut to go somewhere else, even if you were fond of the boss etc?
It’s on us to be creative and make it work. Hopefully we can make it work or at the least get him on loan without an obligation to buy. VK clearly wants him and that’s good enough for me.

I am assuming we played 3 - 5 - 2 last night. Does anyone remember vitiniho or roberts getting a cross in? I think there is a left back coming in, and we will go to 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 type formation.whiffa wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 7:50 pmI don't disagree regarding Foster, I think he had a good game offensively - but he was never going to help Vitinho out defensively.

Oh Charlie is part of the deal for gnoto, bastien is going out on loan to genk , mcnally is off to barnsley, egan-reilly off to QPR and cork is doing his coaching badges.

Last I read on Lokonga was that personal terms were the problem. Whatever the figures he won't be poorly paid and if he's prepared to stagnate his career at Arsenal for money rather than try and resurrect his career then we're better off without him.
More interested in us getting Ramsey, Lukebakio and a LB over the line.

Interesting that Leeds have put out a statement that suggests that a player’s personal mental health is both a disciplinary matter and also should be commented on them publicly.

Leeds have dug themselves a hole there. If they sell now they’ll look really weak. If they don’t they’ve got most likely a demotivated and devalued player. Not sure how the fans will respond to him after refusing to play either.

I get the feeling that names are put out there, and discussions obviously, which either engage or distract agents and other teams from what we are actually trying to achieve.
Showing ambition and the illusion that we have money can make other teams take decisions which are to our advantage.

I might be one of the few that really wasn't that keen on Lokonga in the first instance, I just didn't see anything special about him. So I'm with you on this Firthy I'd rather we focused on Ramsey, Lukebakio ( who I'll admit I know nothing about) and hopefully Maatsen .Firthy wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 8:35 amLast I read on Lokonga was that personal terms were the problem. It certainly looks that way. Were the Hamer and Souza rumours a ploy to get Hamer done for example? I’d love to know our strategy, whether some of these things are planned or just miss information, but it certainly feels like we’re being far more sophisticated these days.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 8:57 amI have wondered on a few occasions that our transfer policy isn't what it seems on the surface.
