Strangely I have the complete opposite opinion. I think Foster was arguably our best player coming from the left.

I’m not sure Taylor would have been a better fit. He is so limited technically, that he would have struggled to make the passes and play the role Vitinho was asked to do.

I thought in the middle section of the park Vitinho actually wasn’t bad on the ball.

I don't disagree regarding Foster, I think he had a good game offensively - but he was never going to help Vitinho out defensively.
I think we'd have had fewer balls into the box from that side if Taylor was defending, they're obviously different players but Taylor is a much better defender than Vits.

Didn't Mahrez do us on the right wing fairly regularly against Charlie Taylor? It's not a criticism of our players, just how Man City choose to exploit us.

Yeah true, but we're up against the best side in the world. I just think a left hand side of Vits and Foster was just asking for trouble, and we got punished for it. I can't say for certain Taylor would have been any better and we still might have conceded the same goals though, it was just an observation.

I hope that's the last time we see those 3 centre backs play in those positions. If we are going to play those 3, we'd be better putting Beyer in front of the back 4, just like Rodri. He was outstanding and Beyer has all the qualities to play the same role.

Of course it won't work until we get Mattsen back or Gomez on loan.

We were playing against City. Those 3 will be just fine.

We don't know what the issues were though. It could have been about his position in the squad, or expected game time, or just injury issues.

Personal terms is very likely to be what we are prepared to pay him. I don't see that getting resolved. Move on.

Personal terms for Lokonga was always likely to be a problem though given he was quite a large signing for Arsenal 2 years ago and his current wages will reflect that.

How many on here would take a (probable) pay cut to go somewhere else, even if you were fond of the boss etc?

It’s on us to be creative and make it work. Hopefully we can make it work or at the least get him on loan without an obligation to buy. VK clearly wants him and that’s good enough for me.

I get the feeling that names are put out there, and discussions obviously, which either engage or distract agents and other teams from what we are actually trying to achieve.
Showing ambition and the illusion that we have money can make other teams take decisions which are to our advantage.

I might be one of the few that really wasn't that keen on Lokonga in the first instance, I just didn't see anything special about him. So I'm with you on this Firthy I'd rather we focused on Ramsey, Lukebakio ( who I'll admit I know nothing about) and hopefully Maatsen .

It certainly looks that way. Were the Hamer and Souza rumours a ploy to get Hamer done for example? I’d love to know our strategy, whether some of these things are planned or just miss information, but it certainly feels like we’re being far more sophisticated these days.
