West Ham are looking at Brownhill for midfield cover and I think are hoping steal him for about 8 million … I really hope he stays and signs a new contract .: be a big loss
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Don't get the thinking on this thread re Brownhill. How are we getting 20 million for him when we don't think he's good enough but we can replace him with someone better easily for 12 million.
We've just bought berge for around 12 who is significantly better apparently. Absolutely mental talk. If he is as bad as people say we won't get 5 for him.

£10m would seem a decent price.

You’ve never seen it with him though, apart from when he first arrived and you gushed over him a little
Then you turned into a spurned lover type person with your hatred of him

I’ll file something in nonsense and it won’t be what the papers say

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I’d hate to see Brownhill go without getting the chance to see what he’s like second time around. He had a little purple patch at home against Liverpool and another top side very close together where he bossed the game for a good spell. If he can do that once he can do that more regularly now with the extra experience .
If he has to go for club reasons I hope he gets a great deal elsewhere.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I suggest that anyone who doesn’t rate Brownhill should look at the reel of last season’s goals on Clarets+. He scored and made good goals. He’s obviously a good team man. He has energy. I just can’t see how an objective evaluation of him could come out with anything other than good marks all round.

Newcastle rates Brownhill in the championship, just doesn’t rate him in the PL where he played in several different positions during the Dyche era and during a time when our aging squad was underinvested and playing the usual stuffClaret53 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 5:21 pmI suggest that anyone who doesn’t rate Brownhill should look at the reel of last season’s goals on Clarets+. I was amazed that Brownhill didn’t play v City plus he didn’t look happy when he came on late in the game.

I live 2 hours away from Seville & they are up xxxx creek regarding finances, also rumours of an investigation regarding fraud but fraud can mean different things in Spain, it could just mean that they owe transfer fees.?

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Although I agree he’s not going for 20mill, all transfers have to be taken in their own context. Sheff Utd needed to sell Berge because they’re financially stuffed and he was in the last year of his contract. We’re not financially stuffed (as far as I know) and we’ve got an extra years option on Brownhill. Plus, we know West Ham have the Rice money so we can tell them we want 20 or gtfo of here. Whereas we seem to be getting a reputation for ‘that’s too much, we’re moving onto the next target.’Spindles wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 4:37 pmDon't get the thinking on this thread re Brownhill. Would rather see all of Jay, JBG, Cork and Bastian go before Josh, who played nearly every game for us last year, and well enough for VK to make him captain. We need however to play him an advanced midfield rather than a defensive one. His pressing qualities are excellent. If there is any talk of him going I think Dyche would try to buy him

Brownhill to West Ham smacks of agent talk trying to get an extra few quid negotiating his new contract with us. There’s no way he goes to West Ham, for a number of reasons.

Caiecedo of Brighton proved at the weekend that you dont automatically have to go to the highest bidder. Tella might want to play for VK and us again if it came down to two clubsCommy wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 6:04 pmhttps://footballleagueworld.co.uk/burnl ... n-forward/

Bournemouth agreed a fee for Tyler Adams from Leeds for £20m. They are making some serious moves and building a very strong team.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I said at the end of last season that I thought Josh Brownhill might be sold in order to raise cash for transfers and the seeming delay over him agreeing a new contract only enhanced that thought. However selling him in our current situation I don't think would make good sense especially given the obtuse machinations regarding Lakonga and Ramsay. Unless we are going to receive a generous offer for him and there is an obvious replacement definitely nailed on I don't see the sense in it.
I was shocked he wasn't a starter against Man City. I am also surprised regarding the Twine situation. Burnley, Alan Pace and VK had a fantastic transfer market last summer and this transfer window also seemed at first glance to be really positive with links to all sorts of players. However I think some questions do need to be raised as there are some obvious issues regarding our squad.
1. The world and his wife easily identified that the club needed to either get permanent deals for those that had been on loan with us or to bring in other replacements. Maatsen hasn't materialised, Tella hasn't materialised and THB was replaced by O'Shea. Obifemi is currently injured.
2. Again virtually all posters recognised we needed upgrades in midfield, another LB and a goal scoring striker. The striker position requirement increased when Barnes left, Jay Rod might be an issue in the PL, Foster firing blanks and Obifemi crocked. Tella is looking increasingly more and more unlikely. Weghorst has gone on loan. The LB situation is a major priority with Coulibaly falling over, Maatsen not looking likely, Fernandes and Gomes not looking likely. We are currently not in a good place at LB with no ther links except a hint at Haartman but he is sought by a number of other clubs. Midfield upgrades look a bit doubtful, Lakonga messing about, Ramsay situation a bit weird and no other links at present.
3. We seem to be struggling in bringing in players in those areas seen as the priority yet bringing in loads of wide players that can't possibly all play and the sheer number of them must make selection quite difficult.
4. James Trafford I am sure will be a fantastic GK yet was paying £19m for him really a priority over securing the LB's, Striker, Midfielders and Tella each of whom we have offered less for linked players than for Trafford.
5. We have loaned out players that we clearly have no intention of keeping as they are nearing the end of their contracts where we might have obtained a small fee for them. I don't see much point in keeping what will be likely benchwarmers this season especially as they will be receiving a wage.
6. Last season signing lots of young players worked out brilliantly and their value will likely increase but I am not sure signing lots of speculative youngsters is going to work so well in the PL especially as we have so many players to pick from, a number of which seem pretty similar but lack experience at such a high level.
It seems increasingly difficult for us to get players over the line lately.
The team selection against Man City was a bit strange to say the least. Why play Berge when he was signed at the last minute with virtually no time to bed in with the other players, formation, game plan etc, yet leaving Brown hill on the bench ? Why was Zaroury and Benson on the bench. Why play 5 players new to the team.
I was excited and happy when Lakonga was linked but now my opinion is changing. Is it an injury holding things up or is it as perception is growing that he is waiting for a better offer ? This is going on too long now, if it is not the injury then we should move on because we will look foolish if he finally goes elsewhere while we are hanging on desperately for his agreement. He either want PL football with us or he doesn't. We have made our offer so it should now be take it or leave it.
We need to go and get decent LB's, midfield upgrades and another striker which was the case at the end of May earlier this year.

Looks like Villa have agreed a deal to sign an attacking mid to compensate for Buendia being out long term.
I wonder if that might allow Ramsey to be announced now? Can’t think what else might be holding it up.

Yes Bournemouth are building a strong looking team.
Not good for us really but I suppose we don’t know how either side will perform regularly.
