He sounded exciting-however if he played 9 games at Palace on loan, why did they not want him

Roy came in and just set up with what he knows to get them over the line and safe.

I was really excited by Lokonga, but now that it looks unlikely he’s a primadonna and has a weak mentality

Villa delaying things so he won't play against them this weekend?

Its possible but would seem odd that they'd be concerned about a player that they don't consider good enough to play for them playing against themclaretburns wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 1:19 pmVilla delaying things so he won't play against them this weekend?

Just because he may not be good enough for them doesn't mean that he wouldn't improve us.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 1:23 pmIts possible but would seem odd that they'd be concerned about a player that they don't consider good enough to play for them playing against them
No idea if Villa are delaying the deal, but if they are I would assume that the deal has already been done but doesn't come into effect until after that game. I can't see us agreeing to waiting until next week to finalise this with the chance that we will be left in the cold with only a few days of the window remaining.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Reggie Cannon on a free from Boavista. Can't be bothered trawling back through posts to see if he has already been mentioned. Could be an explosive signing.

Plays as RB and quit Boavista in June due apparently to unpaid money owed to him
Also been disputes over transfer fee owed by Boavista

What about his character, rumoured to have a short fuse.

Cannon:
We aren't prepared to shell out for him because his is merely a large bore. He tends to go off without warning and his signing would cause fans to recoil.
That's it: I'm shot.

No reason to delay a deal.
If they were that bothered we could have done the deal and made a gentleman’s agreement not to play him. (If you can say that)

We could but for me that would really leave a sour taste considering the money involved. Has any club ever insisted that a player doesn’t play against them after selling them?

Surely if this was the case and they are delaying till after the game then we would of walked away from the deal? Seems mad that they could have that option when were paying £14 mill or whatever it isdavideyresleftear wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 2:33 pmWe could but for me that would really leave a sour taste considering the money involved. Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Moneys got to be on Taylor leaving this window now you would’ve thought.
Beyer
O’Shea
Al-Dakhil
Ekdal
LaCroix
All surely ahead of him in the pecking order for CB.

won't be the first Cannon to be good with a Ball
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Trouble is, he's the only recognised left back we have at the moment. You'd hope we have something definitely lined up for that position otherwise it's a square peg in a round hole.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Taylor will never play left back the way Kompany plays left back so he should barely be considered. Recognised left back if he was in many other sides, but in this one, he's about sixth choice centre half.

I wouldnt write Chaz off just yet
If we’re committed to 3 at the back he’s ideal for that LCB slot - not to mention he played 33 times last season, hardly like he didn’t feature

I agree with Taylor and think kompany will still want come prem experience around the squad in Taylor, cork and Jay rod. I would of said brownhill but he has potential good sale valueCoolClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 3:09 pmI wouldnt write Chaz off just yet

Fair enough, but we've literally just signed a left footed CB that would be ahead of CT in that role.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 3:09 pmI wouldnt write Chaz off just yet

I'm surprised even the most ardent Taylor believer hasn't given up after seeing us play 3 centre halves, Vitinho left back and a 9 man bench with only one defender on.

GKs
Vigouroux, Muric, Trafford -3
RBs
Roberts - 1
LBs
Taylor, Vitinho - 2
CBs
Beyer, O’Shea, Al-Dakhil, Ekdal, delcroix, CJ - 6
CMs
Cork, Cullen, Brownhill, bastien, berge - 5
CAMs
JBG - 1
Wing
Benson, churlinov, Larsen, zaroury, Redmond, koleosho, Odobert - 7
STs
Foster, Jay Rod, obafemi, Amdouni - 4
Total - 29 man squad minus 5 u21s so squad at 24.
Then you’re probably taking bastien, churlinov and obafemi out of the squad last so that would leave 21, 4 spaces in the squad. Ramsey and that veiga wouldn’t count towards due to age so still space for the obvious left back, right winger and striker

I’d say from what I’ve seen of the first 4 in that list proves VK knows how to spot a centre half. Hopefully Hennes will be just as good.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Taylor’s experience is a good point however my preference would be for the club to sell him. Taylor needs regular football at this stage of his career and should fetch a transfer fee which will help fund the incoming transfers.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 3:20 pmI agree with Taylor and think kompany will still want come prem experience around the squad in Taylor, cork and Jay rod. I don’t know if a deal could be done with the wage Taylor is on but maybe an ambitious Championship club might be interested in some kind of deal?

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Regarding Taylor if were protecting a lead late into a game he’s our-most solid defensive LB, so for me he’d be good to have on the bench
Last season we brought players on to win games, this year we may bring them on to protect 3 points or even hold onto a point

Ashley Young has been quality but at 38 you’d think that he’d be being used sparingly off the bench as cover123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 3:41 pmI would of said so then they signed Ashley young who has played left back in first 2 games for them
