Grant Hanley

Post by Healeywoodclaret » Thu Aug 24, 2023 8:03 am

Now this may have been discussed before and if so I apologise. It was good to see Our Ash score for Norwich vs Milwall ….. Hanley currently injured. How do we reckon Barnsey and Hanley will get on as Team mates this season?

I’m sure the 20k a week they both earn will help settle any nerves.

I didn’t really mean nerves I meant history. Didn’t Hanley say he’d NEVER play for Burnley. Be interesting coz Ash was a key part of our dressing room. Other players loved him.

How do you know that? Neither will ever forget the rivalry I don’t think!

Hanley is always injured, so they probably don't see much of each other.

Sports people are used to competing against rivals and then becoming team mates.

I heard from a mate of Norwich's U12 kitman's mum that it was our Ash who bashed Hanley to cause his latest career-ending injury

Got the injury at, of all places, Ewood last season when he suffered a serious Achilles injury. They had both central defenders carried off that day, Hanley in the first half and Gibson in the second half but still won. Neither played for Norwich again last season and Hanley needed surgery.

The gargoyle Hanley has never been good enough for Burnley.
The release video would need an 18 rating anyway.

As they aren't 12yr olds I think they will be fine

Being rivals and being friends are too totally different things.
Perfectly possible that they have a lot of mutual respect for each other and I'm certain that Barnes would never be happy to see a fellow pro out with a long-term injury.

Hanley was interviewed before the televised match on Sunday and spoke pretty well.

He has to be better then Gibson who seemed pretty shaky to me.

Yeah but that was so silly. Sky interviewed him before the derby and asked if he would ever play for Burnley.
Of course he's going to say no. But then the pundits made a really big deal of it. He's not exactly going to say he'd love to.

A mate of mine has a signed photo of Grant Hanley on his Mantlepeice ...

I asked him "is it because you are a Blackburn Rovers fan and he was your favourite player"
He replied "No its because he is an ugly b'stid and his ugly mug keeps the kids away from the fire"

He might have said that and he may well have meant it at the time, but if we’d offered him £60k a week he would’ve snapped our hands off….
