From our peak last season...

We are weaker and have less leadership in defence overall... Probably about the same with new signings.

Are far weaker at left-back... True

Have not upgraded or backed up Connor Roberts... Same as last year in our peak season.

Have only added one attacking central midfielder... Ramsay and I would add Berge as well.

Have not strengthened the deep-lying central midfield... French lad probably signing Massango (sp)

Have not found back-up to Benson, who struggled to get into the team from the start at times in the Championship... Signed several wingers how you have missed this one is beyond me.

Have fewer strikers... One is injured who hardly played last year. Possible signing tomorrow.

Have less pace, goal threat and control with not replacing Maatsen and Tella... Less pace, I disagree. We were always going to have less control of games in this league.

But don't worry, apparently, it's all part of the plan!

Agreed. A shame left backs seem in short supply at the moment as Man U are struggling as well. Although I think they will push the boat out last minute if needed. That could mean the young lad from Man U coming on loan if they get someone in as they obviously don't think he's ready yet.

Final bid has gone in for #SAFC winger Jack Clarke in the region of £15m from Burnley this morning.

They believe they can strike a deal before the deadline tomorrow

I like Clarke, but spending more than we apparently bid for Tella is odd. Tella would have got far more goals and has pace to burn. I accept we might have had to pay a couple of million more.

I like Clarke, but spending more than we apparently bid for Tella is odd. Tella would have got far more goals and has pace to burn. I accept we might have had to pay a couple of million more.

I would expect he is a replacement for Maatsen, played as a wing back frequently for Sunderland and we know Maatsen more likely would play wing back for us rather than left back.

Great replacement in my opinion, really hope it happens.

It's not that outrageous, but also missing context. It could he argued maatsen and Tella improve the first 11 and perhaps THB. But, they were never our players and the new players have barely kicked a ball. And some of our signings are clearly for the future. See Trafford, Odobert, koleosho which is already 30 ish million. However, If I had a combined best 11 of last year and this, only Amdouni and Berge of the summer signings would get in i think. Right now that is.

Very early days for all of them, and I might well have a different 11 by end of season.
