Adidas Burnley

Post by longside72 » Tue Sep 12, 2023 12:14 pm

Just came across these on ebay, can anyone remember seeing these in the 1970's ?
Were they specially made/burnley printed on the side or was their a 'Burnley' collection for the public to buy.

They were only released as footy boots when I looked into em a bit ago - so someone has deffo resoled them.

They’re horrible, probably looked a decent football boot 50 years ago though

If they had 2 stripes and said Gola instead of Adidas 100% of people would think they were awful.

Because they have 3 stripes and say Adidas instead of Gola this is reduced to 99% of people thinking they are awful. They look like something you would see tied together with their laces in a reduced to clear basket at the entrance to a Tommy Balls or Winfields

Think they’re just missing the screw in studs rather than having been re-soled. Most decent boots had screw in studs back in the day.

Have they not just had the studs unscrewed? You can see what looks like raise bits in the first picture that look like the bit you screw them in

Aaah winfields ,the best footballs you could buy for a game in the park ,they were white and at a guess had winfields written on them

The fact they still look pristine shows how different things were when quality came before quantity. Being a 1950's born lad I think they are great!

People also tended to look after what they had a bit better, it was less of a throw away society.
