Really starting to get worried about Cullen now.
Caught in possession again.

Re: Everton match thread
It's not about his stamina it's his pace. All the experience and intelligence in the world wasn't enough last season he was getting overrun and having to take a yellow and bring the guy down.
We'd need to change our setup to bring Cork in or he will just be far too easily outpaced by everyone he's up against and we won't have the dynamism and mobility to get moves going.

I’d have McNally and Bobby Thomas over O’Shea and AlDakhil

We need to change our setup anyway. What we are currently witnessing is a shambles.spt_claret wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 9:15 pmIt's not about his stamina it's his pace. It's been a total stroll for them. All our possession has given them next to nothing to worry about.

Radio Lancashire have just said it's us that are playing like we're 2-0 up.
No urgency or attempt to chase the game.
Tell me there'd be this much patience if Dyche was still here! He's done a job on us tonight!

Hate to say it, but I’m not seeing any improvement tonight and with 20 mins left we are yet to test Pickford! Another woeful performance.

AAD needs to be sent to an NFL strength and conditioning coach for a year and get him back in for next preseason.

If we carry on as we are I’m convinced we can break Derby’s low points record. Might as we go for wooden spoons properly.

Re: Everton match thread
Sad reality is that it’s looking like we would need to spend £30m or so for a couple of players in the £15m range in defensive midfield and centre back to stay up.
I’m not sure anyone will want to sign for us if we are in this position when it comes around, couldn’t blame them.

Re: Everton match thread
2-0 down and we aren't even going for it.
No urgency. Just don't look like we want it.

Re: Everton match thread
We're just not even capable of drawing a game of football.
VK has settled on this way of playing and all the noises suggest he's sticking with it.
Another pathetic, limp, woeful second half display.

Are you lit actually watching the match? We are massively improved. Forward 1 touch passing and Muric shows his quality and command in passing.

Re: Everton match thread
Been the same all season so far from us. I honestly don't mind us losing, I expect it in the Prem. And I like to think I'm fairly positive, honestly! But I can't pretend. The performances have been so limp. There's just nothing about us. No game plan, no identity. Sterile, stale.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 9:18 pmYep, Everton are strolling around the pitch. Literally not even out of second gear.

Re: Everton match thread
Don't disagree but I'm not sure we have the players to do it. Cork would require a compact counter attacking side to hit on the break with direct play, we MIGHT be able to pull it off with a midfield 3 of Cork as the anchor with Brownhill or JBG and Berge as the ball playing runners, pacy wing options of Koleosho and Benson (for directnes)/Amdouni, and Foster up top, Taylor/Beyer/Ekdal/Roberts back 4 keeping tight and playing orthodox fullbacks, take your pick in goal far less important . But it would be such a drastic overhaul in philosophy and involve dropping Kompanys golden boy Cullen and aspiring golden boy Tresor. Can't see it.

Though hard to see VK still being here by then so who knows....

Re: Everton match thread
Yes we definitely are improved but the same frailties are far too obvious in defence and Cullen is really looking like he can’t manage at this level (as a starter, at least).

To be fair to Vitinho, he has offered more of a threat on the right than Tresor.

Haha give over.
This is pathetic. No shots on target in 78 mins.
Everton are literally strolling around like it’s a pre season game

VK is going to repeat the Dyche mistake of not playing Cork at all. Its nailed on.

I have a Coventry City season ticket holder mate who tells me Bobby Thomas is not very good, he did praise McNally though.
Re: Everton match thread
What's the score in your game
Yes we have put some passes together but we don't look anywhere near scoring a goal and our defending is schoolboy stuff
Re: Everton match thread
Perhaps forgetting Al-Dakhil was flawless in the Championship and O’Shea one of the best cb’s in the league. McNally and Thomas have been in and out of teams in the bottom half of that league.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 9:16 pmI’d have McNally and Bobby Thomas over O’Shea and AlDakhil

Tresor at the moment feels like 18 Ian Moores. Hoping it's just that he's on the wrong side and comes good (although if so why the hell isn't Kompany playing him on his favoured side??) but currently I'm just wondering why the hell we didn't spend that money on any of Tella, a top CDM, an experienced CB, or a LBburnleymik wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 9:21 pmTo be fair to Vitinho, he has offered more of a threat on the right than Tresor.

Merson made that point on Sky before the game. He said you could turn the TV and not know whether Burnley we're 1 up, or 1 down as they just play the same way..fidelcastro wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 9:17 pmRadio Lancashire have just said it's us that are playing like we're 2-0 up.

Very worrying this as we seem toothless at one end and unable to defend the other..
