Re: Barnes
Love Barnes, but the only way he comes back to Burnley is in the u23 or youth setup as a coach, or if he has the legs, a "playing coach" for the u23s as is the model now with a lot of old pros
Re: Barnes
There's some form of wierd thing on here where people have to try and do down anything that came before to make it seem like the right now is way better.equinox wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2023 5:00 pmTo get this thread back to something that slightly resembles a serious discussion on a Premier League Clubs main forum:
Amdouni is now, even at this early stage of his career, 10-20 times the player Barnes was at his very peak and will go on to have career Barnes could only dream of.
Barnes at his peak for us got double figures in the PL in terms of goals and was contributing bucket loads to the team.
At the moment Amdouni has shown some nice touches and contributed the square root of eff all.
If we had a choice of taking Barnes at his peak or Amdouni right now it wouldn't even be close.

Re: Barnes
Ive read on here that Jensen was better than Trafford and Barnes is better than Amdouni this week, its all a matter of opinions I guess...
Re: Barnes
But we're not talking about bringing Barnes back at his peak, we're talking about bringing him back now. Which is a no.boyyanno wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 2:46 pmThere's some form of wierd thing on here where people have to try and do down anything that came before to make it seem like the right now is way better.

Yep, and some of those who think both of these are true are allowed to vote. A sobering thought if everBurnley1989 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 2:52 pmIve read on here that Jensen was better than Trafford and Barnes is better than Amdouni this week, its all a matter of opinions I guess...

Re: Barnes
Barnes: loved him while he was here, now I’d love him to do well wherever he plays.
Gave us a good send of last season but age has caught up with him and now Championship is his maximum level

Re: Barnes
Statistically, Jensen is the better keeper. He kept 3 clean sheets and contributed to 8 wins in his PL season.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 2:52 pmIve read on here that Jensen was better than Trafford and Barnes is better than Amdouni this week, its all a matter of opinions I guess...
Statistically, Leon Cort probably fairs better than Beyer as PL defender. But, as we know, Cort was a donkey and I still have every belief that Beyer will go on to play for Germany.
Better stats don't always equal better players. Peak Barnes is better than the best we've seen of Amdouni... so far! And that's the key bit. Amdouni is a full international, playing in the Prem at 22 years old coming off the back of being top scorer in a European competition. Barnes was playing in League One with Brighton at the same age having previously been on loan at Torquay where he scored no goals. All of which goes to make the argument pretty ridiculous. We're judging the best of Barnes against the worst of Amdouni. Amdouni has his whole career ahead of him and his achievements to date suggest his ceiling is much, much higher.
Re: Barnes
Can you actually read people's posts before jumping in with two feet?
The guy I've responded too stated he thinks Amdouni is 10 x Barnes was at his peak. That's why I've posted that.
Re: Barnes
Have you though? I literally can't see anyone saying Barnes is "better" than Amdouni?Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 2:52 pmIve read on here that Jensen was better than Trafford and Barnes is better than Amdouni this week, its all a matter of opinions I guess...

Re: Barnes
Could do a lot worse than having him up front right now with no one apart from foster in any sort of goal scoring form and he upsets opposition quite well.

Re: Barnes
Some people on here don’t half like twisting posts to suit their arguments I never suggested Barnes was better then Amdouni but I’m sure most reasonable people would agree that at a time when we’re struggling to score goals and are creating few chances and being outmuscled by most teams that having Barnes’s experience & nous would have given us a chance of the odd point here and there.

Why do you keep on bumping this/your stupid thread?Westleigh wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 5:34 pmSome people on here don’t half like twisting posts to suit their arguments I never suggested Barnes was better then Amdouni but I’m sure most reasonable people would agree that at a time when we’re struggling to score goals and are creating few chances and being outmuscled by most teams that having Barnes’s experience & nous would have given us a chance of the odd point here and there.
If you can't see where the trajectory is going then you're either stupid or in for a nice surprise
