come next season Jay will have departed so we need to look now for a new striker given the situation with Foster aswell ...

And then people complain that interviews with footballers are dull and it's all just platitudes with no honesty.spt_claret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2023 8:37 am...
Weghorst became an easy boo boy because he was too honest. If there was refusal to play after we were promoted, or lack of co-operation between him and the team, that's another matter and I can understand sending him away again- but I didn't see much sign of either in pre-season.

Re ZA. i think his best position for us would be on the right of a front 3 in a 433. Think when he nearly scored against WHU cutting in from the central right. Think that would also work with an overlapping right back.
Then he could be subbed late on for Benny if we are chasing a game.

Re: What striker is a feasible buy in January?
Realistically we have to sign a striker, and it should be on a loan because of the likelihood of relegation. I can't see many floating about that aren't getting game time in the Premier League. The obvious three would be Ings from West Ham, Broja from Chelsea and Silva from Wolves.
Ings was poor against us the other week for West Ham but if you are asking me whether I would take him till the summer the answer is a yes. I think he would improve us even though he is clearly on the wane.
Broja a clear upgrade on Rodriguez and has the physical attributes to be a good focal point for us. Not got a great scoring track record but he would walk into our first eleven.
Silva is probably bottom of the pile here as he hasn't done a great deal since he signed for Wolves but he had a decent time out on loan at Anderlecht and PSV last season. I wouldn't say no in the absence of anything else.

Think Broja is too big a squad player for Chelsea to let go. Jackson too big a first team choice to let go. Ings, sorry to say is not enough of an improvement on Jay. West Ham are on the slide and will be nowhere near the top half come the end of the season. Luckily for them they have banked a lot of points early.

Amdouni a fantastic player, proven in European competition and at international level.

Never thought I'd say this, but I think I'd be seriously thinking of getting Wout back unless we're in a deal where it's not possible. I'm definitely not his biggest fan, but he's a striker (allegedly) and he's already ours and we're rather stuffed in that department atm.

We don't want you Wout.
Wout, any chance you could come back and help us out? We're in a bit of a pickle!

Oh and you might still get booed especially if you miscontrolled one or made a poor pass or worse still, missed a sitter.

Used by VK in a similar role to Alvarez at CityDarnhill Claret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2023 12:00 pmAmdouni a fantastic player, proven in European competition and at international level.
Wout is more like Haaland than Jay
Re: What striker is a feasible buy in January?
Was thinking about Silva as well. He was really strong at Anderlecht basically a one man attack. He had little to no help from the team. Extremely hard working. Strong player with a lovely technique. Would be a good one to loan for a direct quality injection.jedi_master wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2023 11:28 amRealistically we have to sign a striker, and it should be on a loan because of the likelihood of relegation. Aboubakar that beast that plays up front for Cameroon? Just got sacked off by Besiktas All the skill of a fridge but a physical presence???
Honestly can’t see anyone wanting to come here unless it’s loan or short term contract and evaluate in the summer.
