On one of the feeds yesterday they dropped a stat that Burnley have scored 152 goals against Fulham….. apparently only Manchester United have scored more goals against them in the history of football….

As I said, mildly interesting.

We have done really well on that ground since though.

Prior to that 15/16 game we last won at Fulham in the 80/81 season. Incidentally Fulham haven't won at the Turf since 1951.

As a Derbeian born and bred I can tell you we've not lost to them since 2007! Don't know how often we've played them in that time, though.

36 years then in between wins there. I knew it was a long time, not quite the 50 years that I was thinking.

Remember travelling up from Portland for that game in '80. Had been on a fishing holiday.
The Weds night before watched Weymouth (in Claret & Blue ) beat Bath City ( while shirts/ black shorts) 2-0.
What an omen!

No you’re right but we also have great home form against them.

The stat tells us that we use him as a focal point (as we did Muric) when starting attacks, unfortunately it also tells us how many times we go backwards to the centre halves and goalkeeper when put under pressure.

Tony Gale gets most of our London games. Always very complimentary, for an ex-fiddler, but we generally lose. Yesterday was a happy exception.

I do remember a cracking 5-2? win against them at home in the 90's. Jim Stannard was their goalkeeper and it was around the time the backpass rule had just been brought in. He was certainly of the generation of keepers who didn't adjust too well to the new rule. Don Mackay was their manager and we reminded him of his previous employers. Steve Harper scored an absolute belter.
