Berge suspension
Apologies if this has been confirmed somewhere (I have looked…) but does anyone know the status of Sander’s suspension? As I understand it, when he got the booking he was going to be suspended for 5 bookings for Luton as opposed to Spurs in the FA Cup. When he then got the second yellow, did the suspension become ‘competition agnostic’ so to speak? I.e, is he now suspended for the Cup game?

Re: Berge suspension
The 5 yellow cards rule only applies to the first 19 games so no suspension until Berge reaches 10. I believe Berge will serve his suspension for the red card against Spurs.

Re: Berge suspension
This must have already been covered but I'll add it to this thread as I thought 19 games was the cut off for 5 yellow cards so a 5th yellow for Berge today wouldnt make a difference. Is there a reason or a rule change that this isnt the case or has the 20th game always counted?

Re: Berge suspension
The 5 booking rule is indeed for the first 19 games, so the Liverpool game was the last match in that cut off. Confirmation on the premier league website here: https://www.premierleague.com/news/2801986
I can't find any documentation on what match he will miss, but by my understanding, Berge will miss the Spurs game in the cup as red cards carry across competitions.

Will the 2 bookings today count to the 10 or overridden by the red?Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 9:43 pmProbably my favourite player but he was stupid today… I’ll get over it

Re: Berge suspension
Definitely past the 5 yellow suspension so had he not been sent off he wouldn't have been facing a suspension.
The next yellow card suspension is for ten and the cut off for that is after 32 games.
