I've probably been to more countries than you have buddy but that's not the point.
Im talking about this country and, yes, you are tolerated if you are settled in the safe, comfortable bubble allude.
We may be more "tolerant" than other countries, and thank God for that, but a quick trawl through this board's and other Internet sites' topics will show you levels of intolerance and hatred that are extremely worrying and which seem to be getting worse.
So, thanks for the advice on travelling more - I usually get stick on here for travelling too much - but I think the inconvenient truth is that you're kidding yourself.
Travelling through countries is not the same as living in them. You are just on holiday. We may be more tolerant than other countries? We definitely are. I think there appears to be more hatred because the internet allows people to express it.

I said we are more tolerant than some other countries and, yes, the Internet undoubtedly allows people to express their hatred more readily.
The point is the hatred is there and the tolerance isn't.
I think the Internet has actually revealed the true depth of uncertainty, jealousy, fear, hopelessness, division and so on that a good number of people harbour.
The mask has slipped and the myths of our country being the most fair, our democracy being the best, our police force being the most trustworthy, our army being the most efficient, our Royals being a wonderful beacon of all that is good about our country and all the rest of the guff we've been fed over the generations, are, thankfully, being shown for the tripe they are.

I don't think the UK is in good shape to be honest.
Fingers crossed things improve but I fear as living standards continue to fall, those divisions are going to become more pronounced.
