Just a Chelsea thought.
Is their history doing them no good.
Banners around the stadium for Ray Wilkins, Didier Drogba, John Terry and Frank Lampard but none for current players.
They’ve just scored.

Re: Just a Chelsea thought.
First thought if they are recognising Ray Wilkins they should also have one to their long time midfield stalwart, Ian Britton.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:15 pmIs their history doing them no good.

Probably impossible to get their latest players banners back from the printers before they are moved on?

Hope the Chelsea goal makes Boro play now and not a signal for them to be rolled over.

Re: Just a Chelsea thought.
This is the reason why they play over 2 legs to ensure, more or less,
that there are no upsets and that the big clubs progress nicely.

Re: Just a Chelsea thought.
Why do teams from the Championship not learn that they cant play out in the same way against Premier League teams.

Re: Just a Chelsea thought.
I disagree. There aren't 2 legs in the FA cup semi finals. I like having 2 legged semis in the league cup, it differentiates it from the FA cup.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:43 pmThis is the reason why they play over 2 legs to ensure, more or less,

Pity it didn't work against Swindon in 1968.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:43 pmThis is the reason why they play over 2 legs to ensure, more or less,

I’m not sure that word means what you think it means (insert Princess Bride gif here).Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:43 pmThis is the reason why they play over 2 legs to ensure, more or less,

Re: Just a Chelsea thought.
I deliberately chose nepotism because of the "close family" of the top clubs
to the exclusion of everyone else. Favouritism, bias, preferential treament
didn't really seem to fit the bill.
Hope this clears it up.

Re: Just a Chelsea thought.
Another team that tries to play out from the back like Barcelona with players who could be playing for Burton Albion
It might be the trendy thing but it's dogshit if you don't have the players !

I play walking football most Wednesday mornings with Gary Chivers, ex team mate and friend of Ian Britton.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:20 pmFirst thought if they are recognising Ray Wilkins they should also have one to their long time midfield stalwart, Ian Britton.

Strategic Partnership in full flow
Re: Just a Chelsea thought.
Just the 19 added on at Wigan
Re: Just a Chelsea thought.
Absolutely. It's baffling to watch inferior players being asked to play in such a way and failing time and time again.THEWELLERNUT70 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 9:50 pmAnother team that tries to play out from the back like Barcelona with players who could be playing for Burton Albion

Easily explained away by calling it a philosophy or a project though.
