VK... “I’m quite positive on Delcroix and Taylor, we’ll see if the final training session goes to plan.
..Hopefully it’s positive news, but we’ll see.”

The snippet I saw VK is saying not all his experiences as a player is necessarily benefitting him being a manager ,and I’ll wait for the pelters but his experience ain’t doing us any good, but I’ll stand to be corrected because this is only a small clip.

context is a wonderful thing. Would you expect ALL his experiences to benefit him ? Not sure I would tbh

Your correct ,no I wouldn’t but it would be nice if some of them had worked this season, especially in defence as he was one of the best Central defenders to play in the Premier League.

we had the best defensive record in the Championship last season and were also top scorers when it was more of an even playing field in terms of player ability. I think the bigger issue is the players at this moment in time (age/lack of experience) aren't good enough as a collective (if we had a Ben Mee it would be completely different imho). Of course, I would think VK is culpable for a lot of those decisions in the summer but I'm not sure you become a good or bad manager over night, he's learning just as the rest are and we have to hope that that applies to everyone at the club and they can get us out of the Championship again next season and then don't repeat the mistakes.

Fully agree with this. The problem hes got is whether he sticks to his principles or not. At the moment id suggest hes slightly gone away from them which is risky territory for him. I think the best managers tend to be very stubborn in that sense.

I get that VK was a high profile player but I’m finding it incredibly annoying how many times questions about Manchester City or questions with a Manchester City slant are asked during press conferences. He gets asked more about Manchester City than Burnley! And in fairness to him, he generally has to remind folk that he’s Burnley manager and that’s what his focus is on.

I think whoever BFC’s press officer is should make all journos at the press conference very clear that the majority of questions need to be Burnley related.

Maybe this extract from the stats on the BBC website may assist in understanding the choices VK makes.

James Trafford has made more successful passes than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League this season. His 1,067 passes in total is also the most of any Burnley player this term.

He (VK) gets a pretty easy ride to be honest, all the journo's seem to be in awe.

Yes, but would she command the penalty area and come for high balls?

The alternative way to look at this is that they respect him, because he always tries to answer their questions honestly and thoughtfully. He rarely completely swerves an answer.

He’s also very polite and respectful towards them.

Every time I listen to him I think he’s an outstanding ambassador for our football club, regardless of what’s happening on the pitch.

Because most of them are 7 yards! I could make those passes (At 65!!)

All the fans and media?

Most fans and most media find him to be one of our standout performers alongside Koleosho, Odobert and Foster

It’s as if all the questions have been pre checked. Either that or the standard of journalist is very poor. The journalists aren’t in Russia but it’s as though they are scared to speak and of a backlash. Easy ride for VK as no pressure from the press conferences and no pressure from his employers if he keeps losing matches. Must be one of the most highly paid least pressured jobs in the UK.

Made 446 passes over 40 yards, 4th highest in the league, but 3rd lowest completion of those long passes (we could blame him on not being Muric, but we could also blame the forwards for not winning the ball).

Trafford is also 3rd for number of successfully dealt with crosses (can be a punch), contrary to perception.

The trouble with Trafford is he is a mix of the good, bad and indifferent at this level which is why he keeps coming up on these threads, I’d personally have played both like Brighton are doing, but we should benefit from his shot stopping and more experience next season.

I cannot remember the last time VK was really challenged by a question in any forum, which I don’t think is healthy for him, the club or us.

I also cannot remember some of the leading players ever being interviewed at all. Which I find weird given that it’s an entertainment industry.

Was Dyche ever challenged at these press conferences? Or indeed anywhere? Always seemed pretty softball.

I'd be very tempted to stick with O'Shea whether Beyer is fit or not, and go with that back 4, because I'd go as far as to say O'Shea has been far more dependent in he's run of games while Beyer has been missing, and I was very impressed last week by esteve's apparent leadership qualities and fight he showed, so assingon O'Shea esteve and Taylor would be my preference, height and fight, and what looked like a bit of quality to me.

Whether it was Dyche’s weird idea of humour or not, I’m not sure, but I found his responses and general demeanour towards journalists to be abrupt at best and rude at worst, particularly in his latter years where I think he became very confident in his role (well earned confidence I would add). I’d often sit there cringing at the general awkwardness his responses created.

He never got any tough questions and I doubt Vinny will either while he treats the media respectfully.

And if he does I think he will answer them calmly and professionally because it’s not in his nature to do otherwise.

To be fair a lot of Premier League managers come across terribly these days. I think they probably all struggle with the constant inane questions they have to answer. Pep especially comes across terribly, Klopps getting worse and i can imagine Postecoglu getting gradually moodier the longer he stays in the job.

Postecoglu has been refreshingly honest and decent in his assessments, from what I’ve seen so far. Whether he goes down the Klopp route remains to be seen. Klopp was decent at first but I’ll be glad to see the back of him, after this season.

He’s worse than Guadiola, in my eyes, much worse.

It’s his entire demeanour for me.

His sarcastic smiles even during games when a decision goes against his team, constant whinging to 4th officials etc, he just seems to be an entitled pr!ck.

I agree in the sense I’ll be glad to see the back of him.

Postecoglu is already becoming noticeably less chirpy … he barely made eye contact in a post match interview I saw the other day.

That’s just the way he speaks. He has never made eye contact with the interviewer or the camera from day one. He does speak very openly and honestly. Much better than most of the rest.
