Looks good but it will be a different Everton. Losing these old grounds is a terrible loss to football imo. For all they talk about steep stands close to the pitch in the new ground it still wont feel the same.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 2:57 pmSpotted walking back from Anfield yesterday

Re: My first view of the new Everton stadium
Completely agree about all your points.
I understand why Prem teams have had to move with the times, and expand their stadia but what a loss incredible stadiums like Highbury, White Hart Lane, Upton Park and Goodison are. Such a shame all weren’t retained as youth/womens stadiums but appreciate that’s not feasible.
It does present an opportunity for us though as we’ll never have a shiny new stadium so if they move our pitch closer to the fans and get us right on top of the pitch we could have a really unique older stadium but one that’s got character and a great atmosphere.

Either you parked a long way away, you have a great zoom, or it’s much closer to Goodison tgan I’d realised.
Shame you weren’t seeing it for the first time after a win over their neighbours though

Taken with my phone but some distance away on the walk back to Lime Street
Re: My first view of the new Everton stadium
Old v. new stadium.
Debate currently about Man Utd OT. One argument for a new stadium is natural life span of an old one, OT would need massive works on electrics, water in/out, wifi, etc, etc. Means new stadium while costing more may be more economic due to very large costs of renovation.

At least it won’t be a soulless bowl prefab looking stadium like Reading, Coventry, doncaster, Southampton, Middlesbrough, Leicester, etc.

If things go in a certain direction (seriously south) for the lovable rogues it could end up going the same way Captain Tom's daughter's garden spa. (Which would be funny!)

Nope, just would enjoy them finally getting relegated for cheating, since they stayed up at our expense 2 years ago.
