Carets / BFC Private reg plates

Post by ClaretAL » Wed Feb 14, 2024 7:56 am

Hi all,

Toying with the idea of getting a private reg, but struggling for ideas to come up with something around my name or definitely read as Clarets, so thought I would put it out there among the masses to see what you have or any ideas.

I've got J50 BFC and my wife has E10 BFC. I think they look good and that's all that matters. The only issue is when I have my car serviced because the lass in the garage always refers to it as the "Brake Fluid Change" car

There's a guy who lives in Washington DC who has "Burnley FC" as his plate. I saw it once when in a traffic jam in DC and honked at him. He thought I was a nutter and sped off.

I managed to find BA11 BFC on the DVLC website for a surprisingly decent price and, after a bit of humming and hashing, eventually bought it.
Glad I did.
It's worth taking your time trawling through all the sites, there are a lot of them.

I have M25 BFC which i have had for a few years. I bought another car last weekend as a weekend drive and have seen W25 BFC on the DVLA site, which i think i will buy. That gives my first name initial and surname initial along with my birthday.

I've seen the Reg J50 BFC in Burnley, but presumed it was the old poster we had on here/Clarets Mad.

Bit more abstract but either of the above encorporate your name as well as using claret.

My neighbour (prick), his missus (prickette) bought their first ever new car. Their old one had a private reg on.

They kept the original reg whilst it was still current (cant remember what year, 22 maybe) until the 72 plates came out and put their private reg on.

...

sums them up.

Elderberry cordial? Yes I don’t think you could possibly be compatible.
Just to tip her over the edge, next time you speak to her, ask her if she gets out of the bath to have a pee?

It's a lot cheaper than what's quoted on the regtransfer link!

I can understand the principle behind having a personalised registration however, those that have to have an explanation underneath them to tell you who they are, completely defeat the object!

A plate like M444KML and underneath they have to put 'Malcolm' because it's clearly indecipherable what the plate actually means and they have to show you what it's supposed to mean.

If you do get one, don't be an arse to the poor sod from the insurance company who has to charge you an admin fee for doing the change.
