I can’t believe I’m saying this but STAY - We’ve come this far with him, nobody incoming will keep us up, and surely it’s better TO have a Championship title winner with his hand picked squad take us into next season than to start from scratch all over again.

Stay - we are too wedded to this ‘project’ to ditch everything (Kompany’s players, Kompany’s scouting, Kompany’s analytics, Kompany’s back room team).
I’ve less confidence in Pace and his team unpicking the mess that would be left, if they got rid of Kompany, than I have of Kompany learning from this and getting us back on track.

Beware the sunk cost fallacy. We're in deep with Kompany, sure, but there has not been one single shred of evidence of this regression being arrested.

Stay but my god he’s on wafer thin ice. Has to be big changes next week - in personnel, tactics and attitude.

Stay.
Good start to next season is vital.

Re: Simple vote for Kompany to stay or go…no debate
That absolutely is not happening. Brownhill change is forced, but it's gonna be the same team, the same setup, the same attitude, the same effort, the same errors we've seen without mitigation since the winter set in and the optimism that inevitably flourished in the early season dissipated.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 7:02 pmHas to be big changes next week - in personnel, tactics and attitude.

It certainly does but people have written this post ten times over already this season and that is why I'm in the go camp now.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 7:02 pmStay but my god he’s on wafer thin ice. Has to be big changes next week - in personnel, tactics and attitude.
Do you expect that there will be big changes next week?

Exactly my thoughts, been saying it repeatedly to myself and friends but then match day comes and it's the same selections. If Trafford and Amdouni are in the starting XI next week, I think I may do a 180 on the M65.Spiral wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 7:05 pmThat absolutely is not happening. Re: Simple vote for Kompany to stay or go…no debate
Probably not, but I would envisage this is the first time he's had a bit of grief from the support (as per CT). Interesting to see Football 365 put out an article essentially saying VK is on the brink too. All seems a bit different post match where previously he's been relatively unscathed.

So VK is sacked tonight. Who replaces him? Not seen many suggestions
Re: Simple vote for Kompany to stay or go…no debate
'Fight' is intangible, and is difficult to quantify and organise analytically in the way goals, tackles, clearances, sprints can be analysed, but you know fight when you see it, and you know when it's not there, and it started to disappear a few months ago. I feel fairly sure many people on here tonight would be quite shocked at saying this a few months ago, but here we are. You don't usually see managers recover from that. I'm surprised myself that we even got to the point where we're saying these words.

Fancy a bit of Herve Renard?
French/Belgian contingent - still get goosebumps from this:

(I don't actually want Renard btw, but there's tons of managers out there).

It's not really my decision to make! God knows, where did Brighton pull De Zerbi from, Shahktar?
I still wouldn't actually sack him btw having calmed down a bit - but we can't be having a messiah complex, there's good managers all around the globe and we pay a good wedge.

Stay until 10 games into next season. Sorry to be sensible but only after a restart with several out.

Re: Simple vote for Kompany to stay or go…no debate
I THINK I'm in the stay camp but I'm not really fussed anymore if I'm honest .........it's just got so "whatever"
Re: Simple vote for Kompany to stay or go…no debate
We really are in the do do if the main reason for keeping him is "there's nobody else"
Course there would be. And having turned in one the worst managerial performances in the history of English football, it's close to the stage where i don't really care who comes in, they'd do a better job than this charlatan.
I've seen "too late" mentioned too. Nobody suggests the new man will keep us up, this is all about prep for next seasons campaign, avoiding whatever horrors VK would foist upon us in the summer, and giving the new man chance to see what he's got and what he should ship out and bring in over the summer, not waiting until June or July to start that process. Now is the perfect time for that, absolutely not "too late"

So why don’t premier league clubs hire league one managersfidelcastro wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 7:26 pmDo you actually think we'd have fewer points with a League One manager in charge of this group of players?
Purely hypothetical, I know, but I honestly don't think we would have.

If he finally drops Trafford next week, then stay. ( How many games has he cost us now?) If he doesn't, then go because if he believes Trafford will EVER make a goalkeeper, then he's sadly deluded.

Stay... It's woeful but last season was so good that he deserves another go. Give him til Xmas in the championship and if we're within touching distance we stick with him.
Signings have been awful but there's a full team behind that, not just Vinny.

Easy to say that. Phil Parkinson done nothing as a manager in the championship never mind the premier leaguefidelcastro wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 7:34 pmYou've missed my point.
I honestly don't think we'd have fewer points if Phil Parkinson was in charge (and no, I don't want him as Kompany's replacement!)

Second half is my feeling. I think they got very, very lucky last season. I also think that deep down they know this.DCWat wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 6:49 pmStay - we are too wedded to this ‘project’ to ditch everything (Kompany’s players, Kompany’s scouting, Kompany’s analytics, Kompany’s back room team).

I do think Kompany's out of his depth currently, but I think ALK are way, way out of their depth. Assuming they even want what we want out of Burnley, which I still doubt.
