A sad indictment to say he's one of the better refs around as this was another ridiculously weak performance. They have the power to stamp put diving and cheating overnight but they just won't do it so it's no wonder nobody respects the officials. When he finally booked Wilson for his 3rd blatant dive of the day, it was nailed on that he'd score, but then when he does it again to try and win a penalty, he doesn't give him a 2nd yellow, instead opting for a cosy chat with him and a good laugh while Esteve is getting treatment. And as for the liners.... woweeeeeee, that wee geek lad on the BL side is terrible every time we have him but that offside he didn't give in the first half is one of the worst there's been in years.

20’s all round
He definitely gave us the benefit of the doubt on more than one occasion. I actually feel he was going easy on us.

Lower marks for missing what I believe was a clear penalty. There was also an incident in the first half when a Newcastle player looked to be about 3-4m offside. He looked like he was going to whistle but the lino didn’t put his flag up and a corner was awarded. He then looked to be in communication with someone and literally as the ball came in, he awarded a free kick to Burnley. I thought he was very decent overall.

Callum Wilson 4 dives equaled a yellow card. Get me out of this division!

Not the best, but let’s be honest, far, far, far, away from being anywhere near the worst. Likes to be the centre of attention, but his overall performance today was pretty decent.

I thought he was excellent overall and it's not his fault that VAR ruins the game and makes a nonsense of everything.

20s all round for me. Thought he had a decent game. The offside that John mentions was bizarre - not sure the lino on that side was properly concentrating!

This is my main issue with the keeping the flag down thing. At least three times this season there have been obvious offsides, the Lino has kept the flag down, and it’s resulted in a corner for the attacking side. One of them was ours.

Though he was pretty poor, and should have given us a pen. Couldn't wait to give theirs mind.

As for Callum Wilson

3 - separate acts of dissent
1 - act of inciting the crowd when scoring
2 - Dives (one booked)
2 - blatant handballs (one where he claimed to be pushed, but wasn't on a check)

Should have seen red quite comfortably. What an annoying **** he is

The decision not to award our penalty was clearly wrong and a major wrong decision which probably affected the result and pattern of the game.

I’m amazed that some are questioning his Fitness and Positioning, I’m reliably informed he’s extremely fit and probably as fit as many of the players.

He’s not there to have a ‘decent game’ he’s there to implement rules which he didn’t.

Seeing it back confirmed what I thought live, that the two penalty claims were identical, Gordon went down so easily, there was some hand on shirt, as there was with Assignon and Guimeres. The leg of Gordon may have been clipped but he engineered that bit when going down like sniper fire. We know VAR doesn’t like to intervene on those, so it was the choice of Taylor.

Refereeing is a bit like a goalie, one huge error can affect a game, thus should affect the marks. He did the rest really well, which is only partially relevant, but we should have been ahead, then, who knows?

Decent enough ref but if he's one of our finest, then it says a lot about the poor quality of referees in this country.

Can't believe that w didn't get the penalty. Far more in that than the Gordon one. Var are completely useless

Not going to rate him as I was so disappointed how he handled our penalty claim, give that and it might (unlikely) have been a different story.

He was poor on this and then we just lost it.

Won't miss VAR

The penalty changed the game. Gave them a lift and deflated us, as it was so blatant.

The offside/corner/whistle is as you described.

Utter garbage of a ref. Had he given us the pen it’s a completely different game.
