Give him 12 games in Championship but no more if not going well. I’d curb the spending in Summer too but sell off some of the dross if we can.

After last season I’d keep him and see how he gets on. Wouldn’t want to do a Norwich after getting rid of Farke.

Go on then. I'll join in. Where would we have to be for you to decide things are 'not going well'? How much would you allow him to spend if his spending has to be 'curbed'? Does he have to 'sell off' the 'dross' that only you think is 'dross'? And they are genuine questions?

Of course just the ‘dross that I think is dross’. I expect the board to act on my personal opinions. Imagine sharing opinions on a message board. VK is the best man to get us back up next season if we drop. All other suggestions I’ve heard are completely ludicrous.

Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
VK is a vastly different manager to the one that got us promoted. Last year everything he did turned to gold-the players he bought, his coaching, his ability to change the way we played during a game, the research on the opposition, his press conferences. Just don't know whats gone wrong. I knew it would be tough but I thought some of these qualities would stand him well this season, but it seems the PL is a step too far for him

We KNOW that alls not well in the squad, it’s been widely discussed and yet we still think this bloke is the right answer…

In the last 8 games before today has it looked like all is not well in the squad?
The mistake to not play muric is on kompany no denying that.
I can understand not starting benson but I can’t understand not bringing him on when we need a goal.
In regards to the others, the players sent out on loan simply aren’t good enough for the prem.
Tella and Maatsen we tried for and THB I think O’Shea was better value for money.

Still stay, but there are a few more rumours of dressing room discontent starting to surface.

So you think you’ll be able to bring back all those who ‘aren’t good enough’ and reintegrate them into a Championship squad? Ask them to perform, win the league, and then get dumped again?
They’re rightly going to say, no thanks.
Kompany is an arrogant and stubborn manager imo, and it should cost him his job.

If he goes, he goes.
This season has been a shambles and it’s mainly on him. ‘Credit in the bank’ from last season only lasts so long.

I agree with this. And would also add that at this level he is proven incompetent and a poor decision maker
He is proven on how to get out of the championship tho. So he will be retained
Would cost a lot to sack him too. That will be a key factor to our accountants that make the decisions on football matters

Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
Throughout this season we have failed to beat a team sitting in the top half of the table. If Kompany seriously thinks that Burnley are going to a club sitting inside the top 6 and win he is clearly deluded. We don’t score enough goals and concede too regularly to trouble the top PL teams.

The problem is not just sacking Kompany it's the cost of the bloated entourage that he's been allowed to accrue, safety in numbers and all thatVim Fuego wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 10:57 pmI agree with this. And would also add that at this level he is proven incompetent and a poor decision maker

You’ve not addressed the morale issue. Benson, Zaroury, and to some degree Cullen.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 11:01 pmOut of the players on loan I would only want zaroury back, the rest can all go for me.

Losing JRod, Taylor and Cork will help him perversely.
Muric doesn’t seem to me to be a shy character.
How do you pick up this squad, trim it down, add quality, and then ask them to perform week in week out?

It was close last time round, think more will be thinking Kompany out now…
Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
Which ever way you cut it, Kompany has failed massively this season. I don’t see any improvement tactically or game management from him.
This summer is going to be a massive turnover of players again, I’m not sure how it’s going to pan out with Kompany. Even if he gets us promoted again I’m not sure I’d like VK to be leading us out again in the Premier league.

A thread that has surely resurfaced out of frustration rather than logic. Ironic given the username that has brought it back up.
There is zero logic in getting rid of a manager that won the Championship with over 100 points 12 months ago.

Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
That doesn’t even make sense though, in our last two Championship seasons we haven’t got really running until after Christmas. Dyche got absolutely walloped on Boxing Day at Hull, then went on a long run. Kompanys first 10 weren’t anywhere near as good as later in the season.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 1:16 pmI think he gets 10 game's (2 are free hits Spurs and Forest) and the first 8 in the championship next season, if nothing changes then he needs to go I'm afraid.
Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
Keep with him, given our squad and the lack of experience I didn't think we'd stay up. Last season our style had much within it which was going to make things harder for us (and has) when playing better sides. A team trying to play Premier football versus Championship teams is always going to suffer when deploying that strategy against genuine Prem teams who can press a yard quicker and who will punish you for any slight mistake.
There are a lot of players who could come good whilst in the earlier stages of their careers. Especially against lesser teams, it might be exactly what they need. The Prem was just far too much for them. Likewise I want to see Kompany use the experience and harsh lessons to the benefit of us, not another team.
I'm looking forward to it in all honesty.

Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
I think we'll likely be fine next season and win it.
The concern though has to be that Kompany believes in huge turnover every summer and will want to do it again. Can we afford it and can he get it right a second time, given how badly wrong he got it last summer?

I disagree with this. VK isn't the same manager from 12 months ago. The pressure on him and the team will not be the same either. There is zero logic in getting rid of a manager that won the Championship with over 100 points 12 months ago.
The main reason to pot VK would be the reasons talked about. He's now got a track record of extreme disloyalty to the players that got him promoted. Who is going to want to join us for a grueling championship campaign, knowing that if its successful they'll be binned?
Of all VKs failings this season, and there are many. This lack of class, frankly, Is the biggest reason we should consider moving him on. How much damage has he done to his reputation with players? That reputation was his biggest asset.

Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
I would not say lost. IF you buy into the four year project; staying up was important but not essential. They are building from the foundation up, and like all new builds it will take time for the ground to settle. If they can get the team back up (barring a biblical size miracle of staying up) with essentially the same squad they have a team of young men, who have experienced the Premier League and had another year building strength and understanding within the unit… the hope is it is a very different, and more capable Burnley that bounces back.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 3:51 pmAlso VK will have lost some of the draw of players wanting to play for him.
