Amazing that he stayed on the pitch, it was horrific. Didn't Gayle say after the game that he didn't intend to break his leg and if he had he would have broken both of his legs.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 5:43 pmWhich of course after John Gayle all but ended Nicky Spooner’s career with a shocker of a challenge.

How can that possibly be outside the area when the 12s’ left leg is in the box?

how do VAR rule on that potential penalty in the play off final in less than 30 seconds ? In the Premier League that would take 3 minutes

I don’t know what he said but I do know what he did and then people whinge about them not giving the ball back. It went to court I think or maybe we settled out of court.

If we'd had defended the corner better the not throwing the ball back would never get mentioned.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 5:51 pmI don’t know what he said but I do know what he did and then people whinge about them not giving the ball back. It really was an x rated horror tackle.

Commentator said that Thomason has collected more cards than Clinton’s this season. He’s had one red and that was his 22nd yellow.

The bloke who just got booked for Oxford has been booked 22 times this season! Every other game, more or less.

I was out yesterday in Southport (bird watching) and got talking to someone who was a Bolton fan, who was going down to Wembley today. When he found out I was a Burnley fan, he immediately brought the incident up (he was there), and said he was sure Gayle had been told to take Spooner out of the game.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 5:43 pmWhich of course after John Gayle all but ended Nicky Spooner’s career with a shocker of a challenge.

That Ricardo Santos has played so bad. Holy hell.
I hate to bring it up/flog a dead horse but seeing this, how the hell did we sign a keeper from L1 to play in the PL?!
Absolutely obscene it's dross. Awful standard of football.

Oxford have defended superbly. Dare I say we could learn a thing or two from their approach to holding onto a lead. Bolton have really lacked quality. Haven't watched any league one football recently but expected to see more from them.

Manchester to Oxford is just a mere £98 return on the train
(can get £55 return if booked three months in advance).
Think this might be one for a car share.

They just haven't turned up have Bolton. Very frustrating to watch. Itching for a goal to make the tie interesting but they're never getting a goal back today.

Bolton just not turned up today , slow ponderous off it completely , they have been so much better than this throughout the season.
I work in Bolton and a number of my mates are going to be gutted. They literally had convinced themselves they were going up.
They drew with them at their place and battered them 5-0 at the reebok .. oxford literally looked a league above them today

Probably in the same way we signed a player in Koleosho, who other than 5 appearances for the first team, had only played for Espanyol B in the Spanish 4th tier. When McNeil made his debut for us he’d only played for the academy team.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 6:03 pmI hate to bring it up/flog a dead horse but seeing this, how the hell did we sign a keeper from L1 to play in the PL?!
Just because a player has only ever played at a certain level doesn’t mean they’re not capable of playing at a higher one.

Very different; winger is one position you can take more of a punt on and it's a damn site less risk than a goalie.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 6:22 pmProbably in the same way we signed a player in Koleosho, who other than 5 appearances for the first team, had only played for Espanyol B in the Spanish 4th tier. Koelosho still in and around a senior mens La Liga setup - which would trounce any team in L1.
McNeil was with the team, been training with them and was slowly introduced/re-introduced.
Those situations aren't comparable. No other serious team is taking a league one player straight into the PL.
Jamie Vardy slowly rose up the leagues and was signed in the Champ by Leicester - where he (eventually) helped fire them to promotion... along with a certain Chris Wood.

It’s a little disingenuous calling him a league 1 player as his contracted club was Manchester City.

When were Bournemouth in L1 when Ramsdale was there?
It's the highest level he played at, and never made a matchday squad for City - what else can I say?

Aaron Ramsdale played 37 PL games for Bournemouth in 19/20 despite is highest level of experience being at AFC Wimbledon in League 1. That season he won supporter’s player of the year.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 8:26 pmWhen were Bournemouth in L1 when Ramsdale was there?

Because I think the fact that we signed him from the best team in the country counts for something. Calling him a league 1 player is a little disingenuous and I think intentionally so.

Look, you said no serious PL club would take a goalkeeper straight from L1 to the PL and I’ve given you an example of one that did. Not sure why you need to muddy the waters here.
