Whinging **** who’s not as good as he thinks he is. Brighton have underachieved this season.

And if for whatever reason Brighton want Vinny and Vinny wants Brighton, then so be it.

looking at a few comments from the Brighton fans they don't seem too fussed, very much backing Tony Bloom over De Zerbi

Some extenuating circumstances but I do agree.

They have had Europe this season and probably the worst injury record in the league

You’d think Potter would be the obvious one here, as long as he maintained a relationship with Bloom.

Deal was done between the boards of the respective club before he found out from what I know.

He wasn't actively looking to leave Brighton at the time and I think he and his family are still in the area down there.

It's just whether he is ready to give up his monthly 7 figure salary that Chelsea are committed to paying until his contract ends or he finds alternate work.

The sale of Mac Allister and Trossard and long term injuries to Solly March, Kaoru Mitoma and Evan Ferguson have hit Brighton very hard.
Those five players scored 37 goals between them in the PL last season and any club would struggle to maintain the same level of performance.

Estupinan, Mitoma, Furgosen, Dunk, Pedro, Enciso and Gross all been injuried and some of them for really long spells
Estupinan - 27 games
Mitoma - 26 games
Ferguson - 36 games
Dunk - 43 games
Pedro - 39 games
Enciso - 14 games

That’s not the team with the most injuries this season, only enciso has missed most of the season.

Beyer and koleosho only playing 15 games each foster 25 games if you are talking about key players is much worse.

Look at united missing shaw and Martinez for large parts of the season

Your comparing all apps in cup games etc… as well

If we compare apples to apples

Mitoma has started 11 premier league games
Estupinan 18
Ferguson 26
Dunk 30
Enciso 10
Pedro 28

That’s a fair drop on regular starters

That doesn’t include the like of marsh, Gross etc… who have been in and out as well

Again you’re proving the point that Brighton haven’t had anywhere near the worst injuries in the league, Ferguson, dunk and Pedro played a massive part.

When you compare it to the injuries man united, Newcastle and even wolves have had.

If your going off a team that has had the most injuries to key players then the amount of time palace have spent this season without guehi, eze and olise, much worse than how Brighton have had it

He consulted for Brailsford in his takeover/investment into Man Utd.

There is a link there now for sure but I am not sure there is anything more to it.

Interestingly I am not sure if he was expecting the interest.

It is a bit like when Moyes went to Utd - as a manager if a club like Man Utd or Chelsea come knocking - it's very hard to refuse. I think they know though if they fail, it is risky but saying no is also risky.

Really good, clear, article explaining the reasons behind De Zerbi’s departure.

Basically Bloom doesn’t want many players in the 23-30 age bracket.

Has major implications for who gets the job and also for their future prospects.

Feels a little bit like they are a stud farm. Pursuing big sales above all else. Reading the article while pondering what the Clarets strategy has been this season was an interesting experience for me. I have no doubts there were elements (not 100%) of us trying to replicate the Bloom model.

The big question is whether players closer to their prime are needed for certain vital and difficult challenges, to kick on into the top 7 or to avoid relegation?

Commonly accepted propositions...

Brighton are amazing, and De Zerbi is a brilliant manager.

Everton have had a shocking season, and will be looking to get rid of Dyche as soon as possible if they're to move forward.

De Zerbi points won this season - 48

Dyche points won this season - 48

One of them has spent fortunes as well....

The media are obsessed with Brighton, they are a dreadful side this year, injuries or not. they'll struggle next year without a decent manager. Owe loads of money to their owner too.

Not the sunshine and rainbows club the media portrays.

Consistently struggled to score goals though. Underperforming XG on a consistent basis means some questions are going to be asked of him.

Not in the latter season and half really. And the fact they were always creating high xG is (generally) a good thing, not a negative. We’ve not created near enough this season and hence a low goals tally. While on the topic, interestingly our open play xG against is 4th highest, West Ham being between us and the other 2.
