The Home Form
As the post-mortem begins I'm curious if we've had any worse seasons at home than this one. We've normally been reasonably ok at Turf Moor and it's usually on our travels that we've struggled. Not this time. At Turf Moor :
- Didn't beat a side with 11 men
- Only beat the worst team at home (who had a man sent off) and a team who played a man down for 95% of the game.
- Lost the first 7 .
- One clean sheet.
- 43 goals conceded. -24 goal difference (with a 5-0 win)
- 10 points from 19 games - even Sheff Utd got that. Forest got twice as many points at home as we did.
Have we had worse than this?

Terrible stats, glad it`s all over tbh.
Apparently in our whole history have only won 2 home games in a season twice!

The atmosphere is as bad as I can remember it. I think a large part of it is down to how successful we’ve been in recent years. There’s a level of expectation in a large section of the fan base that just wasn’t there 15 years ago.

There's a big expectation that we'll do well next season. If it goes well it could be another fantastic season in the Championship.

I'm glass half full as much as I can be but our 'efforts' at home this season have been unacceptable regardless of the gulf between the leagues. Very few positives to take.

Re: The Home Form
Without doubt the worst top flight Burnley team I’ve ever seen.
To be honest Zkompany has been totally out of his depth all season.

Re: The Home Form
Apparently we have had another season with only two home wins but it was in the 1800s with only eleven games played. Kompany said he wanted the Turf to be hell, he's helped make it that for us.ChristheViking wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 7:18 pmAs the post-mortem begins I'm curious if we've had any worse seasons at home than this one. Oh yes. He could have pounded out a death knell to all those dire, inept, performances.
Re: The Home Form
Kompany is a lucky man to still be in a job with such a poor inept season.
Re: The Home Form
If we don’t hit the ground running next season and I for one am worried with the squad we have I think VK and staff will be gone by October and maybe he will be gone before a ball is kicked

Re: The Home Form
yeah with SD, next season you know what's coming but with VK haven't got a clue - don't think fans would be surprised if it goes really well or really bad - its definitely a "up in the air" unstable atmosphere.
Re: The Home Form
Yesterday's game was a big indicator for me. There was nothing riding on it so it relied on the players self motivation and pride to put in a good performance. They failed miserably and there were some individuals who were lacking in effort.
It said a lot for me about the mentality of this squad. We need to ship out any bad eggs ASAP or next season could be a problem

Says a lot of where we are when CT left at the final whistle and didn’t stay to see the walk about which apparently should have been a walk of shame

Re: The Home Form
Young kids very low on confidence. Regardless of the money they earn, getting stuffed every week will take its toll, and more so on the young'uns. That said, I'm not a 'Kompany Out', but he's sure on borrowed time and has to hit the ground running next season.Goliath wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 10:15 amYesterday's game was a big indicator for me. Dion Dublin to Pace on Football Focus: "What was it about Vincent Kompany that you wanted him as your manager (or words to that effect)."123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 11:05 amAnd the fact the chairman is besotted by him and backed him so much that he would look foolish to get rid

Re: The Home Form
Yeah I’ve seen far too many comments from pace that are far to close for comfort. Comments about being impressed with kompanys vision and so on is fine but using terms like falling in love with him, it’s weird. Pace will be calling kompany baby reindeer soonClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 11:16 amDion Dublin to Pace on Football Focus: "What was it about Vincent Kompany that you wanted him as your manager (or words to that effect)."

Re: The Home Form
I'm not sure I buy into this. I agree some fans had ridiculously high expectations this season. The pre-season comments from some suggesting qualifying for Europe or finishing mid table were always hyperbole. Most knew that this season was about survival.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 7:30 pmThe atmosphere is as bad as I can remember it. The atmosphere under Dyche remained pretty good during his two relegations. This was due to the "us vs them" mentality. You bought that the players were giving everything. We knew we didn't have the best players, but you knew they'd give their all, and you can get behind that.
This season has been week after week of games being over by 3:15. of throwing away leads and never getting back into games when behind. Even the Sheff Utd victory was tainted by the hint that their players threw the game to get Heckingbottom sacked! We clearly didn't have the players, but we didn't have the effort, and that's the killer for any atmosphere. There's been nothing to get behind.
Fans are a simple bunch. Show us you care and we'll love you. Graham Branch was hopeless but he'd play anywhere on the pitch and he'd give his all. He ended up with his own chant and cult status. I dare say the likes of Amdouni and Foster have more talent than him, but they both appear to have the heart of a pea. They don't care, so why should we care about them?

Re: The Home Form
A very young, inexperienced team, was up against it from the start. I think the pressure of expectation from the fans was more than some of the players could handle. Disappointing, but not a total surprise. The lack of a leader on the pitch didn't help either.
